This is an slighter update of the older issue (2009-2010) on AD that can be found here.

I finished putting a bunch of studies together, I found it interesting that Americans are believing much less in the Death Penalty today (62% favor) than we did in 1996 (it peaked at 76%). People used to believe forensics would exonerate the innocent, and be the best case for death penalty, but that's not the case anymore. We have corruption, faulty DNA evidence, judge racial bias and many other factors. Surprisingly, we are also executing less, here's a graph I made combining a few sources (US BoJ).

It's apparent that US minorities are definitely less interested in it and as well as age. Of the 197 countries in the world, 139 have banned the use of the death penalty in capital offenses. In the remaining 58 countries with laws that allow for retribution, just under half are regularly executing, which includes the United States (Sangiorgio, 2011).

Let's try to keep this discussion civil and unrelated to religious or presidential politics, but the other perspectives of death penalty application on prisoners.

I know we have some ADers who are not in USA, is your country for or against the death penalty and are you? why?
