Deaf or HoH?

Oh by the way, sorry for going off topic... typical of me..

Son is now identifying himself as being deaf as opposed to hoh. He got a new audio gram done and his hearing has slipped again. He is now more severe/profound than moderate/severe. HE has decided to learn more ASL with me now because of it. Daughter had hers tested again as well. Her's is still identical to what it was when she was 5, 9 and 12.

They still think I am faking it. They can plainly see that I can't hear, but it doesn't seem to faze them at all. I have had all kinds of things done to prove that I am stone total deaf, such as, banging drums behind me, or any number of things that could make a massive amount of noise that a hearing person would find annoying. I have also had the proof that I have no ear drums and cochlea in hand and they think it's a forgery. They only way they believe it, is if they contact the agency that provided the proof themselves. I have given up trying to prove it to satisfy others.

I hate that for you Kristina! I just *hate* that!

My siblings are 'warming' to the idea of ASL. I think to myself, why the "F" didn't you warm to that when I was born instead of 40 f-ing years later!!!

Yeah, my youngest sibling asked me if I wish everyone learned to sign and I told her yes. Then she felt bad about it but I told her it's not too late, you can still learn to sign by taking a class.

Then he is still young enough to go to the FSDB, as you regret you didn't, so he can assimilate and make a better life for himself.

Will think about that. He's still quite resistant about any kind of schooling right now, but I will broach the subject with him. He is 16 currently.

He's 16 already?! Geez time flies. The last I knew he was only 13/14.

Amazing how kids do indeed get two years older in the space of two years, while we adults stay exactly the same age!! ;-)

Goodness. I don't know what I'm going to think when I wake up and I suddenly realize my DD is 16, or worse, 18. She's 8 now.

Where did my post go? ^^^Nevermind, there it is. Computer is acting dumb on me tonight.

Good grief, I turn 28 this month, I don't want to think about 30 yet! I just wanna be outta here BEFORE I turn 30 so I won't be a loser.

You're NOT a loser; you've got tough circumstances. And you're working hard to change them - that's obvious. A loser sits back and lets someone else pick up the slack.

I have SSD and Ive been told I was faking it by a specialist doctor. Why? Because my audiogram came back inconsistent. Doesn't matter the fact that its evident to anyone who interacts with me during everyday life, I've been faking it since I was 6 for attention. Luckily for me my mum had none of it and yelled at him and we never went back to see him. I've since had a new test which came back with consistent results.
