A woman, her daughter and her deaf son were found dead Sunday within the limits of Saeedabad Police Station. One of her sons, Jumma Khan, claimed that some of his neighbours and relatives were involved.

“I had some work with Jumma and the door of his house was open so I went in. I saw his mother and siblings on the floor bleeding and called Jumma and the police,” said one of the neighbours, Akram.

Fauzia, 45, her six-year old daughter, Sara Gul, and son, Sabir, 9, were rushed to Civil hospital from Murree Mohalla, Dawood Goth, Saeedabad. “I lost my senses when I saw them. My mother was in one room and my brother and sister were in the other room,” said Jumma Khan, Fauzia’s eldest son.

He claimed that some of his neighbours and relatives, including one Khadim Hussain, Mustafa, Barkat (his uncle), a sub-inspector of the Kashmore Police, Nabi Bux, and others, are involved in his family’s murder.

He said that about two months ago, they kidnapped two of his younger sisters – Mashoka and Bhabo – and an FIR was lodged at the Saeedabad police station. His sisters have not been recovered yet and are allegedly in the possession of Khadim and Mustafa.

Fauzia was the mother of six girls and four boys. One son passed away a while ago and another was deaf. The father was killed over a domestic dispute in Quetta, from where they shifted to Karachi.

Some of the neighbours said that accused Khadim and Mustafa were in love with Jumma’s sisters and they tried to get married but the sisters refused because they had different ethnic backgrounds – the victim’s family is Pathan and the accused are Sindhis. The neighbours said that after an FIR was lodged when the sisters were kidnapped, the family started receiving threats.

SHO Shakil Ahmed Sherwani told Daily Times that no other family member was in the house when the incident occurred Sunday midnight. He said that the police are trying to find answers but they don’t have any witnesses.

He said that FIR No. 272/07 was registered on behalf of Jumma Khan against Khadim Hussain, Mustafa and others and that the police will try and get to the bottom of this as soon as possible.
