Bronx judge yesterday denied a deaf murder suspect’s bid to suppress his purported confession, saying a sign-language interpreter had clearly informed him of his rights beforehand.
Gabriel Thompson, 48, had claimed the NYPD sign-language interpreter ignored his request for a lawyer and mistook his explanation for a confession during a taped interview.
But the judge said the videotape shows Thompson was read his Miranda rights three times and knowingly waived them.
Thompson was arrested in 2010 — 25 years after he allegedly stabbed and killed Miguel Lopez, who was having an affair with his live-in girlfriend.
