Here's a dumb political gaffe of David's by blaming international politics for the loss of the Chicago Olympic bid, the very thing that Obama tried to exploit in the first place by going to Copenhagen to try and somehow bully IOC into selecting Chicago. Of course, that was an epic fail and foolish move.

Good. No reason to reward Chicago's thuggery with a Olypmic nod from the IOC.

Top White House adviser David Axelrod says “politics” played a key role in the International Olympic Committee’s decision to reject President Obama’s appeal in support of Chicago’s bid to host the 2016 Olympics.

In an interview moments ago on CNN, Axelrod said, “I don’t view this as a repudiation of the president or the first lady. I think that there are politics everywhere, and there were politics inside that room.” Axelrod said that a former head of the IOC was leading Madrid’s effort for the games, and others involved in other Olympic bids also had connections with the IOC. “As with any process like this, there are all kinds of crosscurrents in the room, there are relationships,” Axelrod said.

Asked for details, Axelrod said, “I’m not suggesting anything nefarious…I’m not suggesting anything untoward happened. There are politics around every process, and there were here as well…There were relationships that paid off for some of the other cities.”

Maybe the Olympic selection people took into acccount the massive divide among Americans in regards to politics? They might be trying to avoid getting in the middle of a civil war. Anyhow. I prefer they host these events elsewhere, since I can learn a great deal about other places. Nothing about Chicago that makes me want to take photos.
Hey, what about that deficit, spiraling out of control since Obama took office?

It's other nonsense story from right winger. ;)

Know what? I hate the blaming game! :mad2:

It were time for America to suck it up and move on.

How many time we have hosting Olympic here in US? 8 times (include Winter Olympic). Let new country hosting.

CNN anchor freaks out over hearing Olympic bid result...Chicago got the least number of votes among the candidate cities in the first round and did not qualify to go to the next round. Watch the cheering crowd in Chicago.

Will people now call the IOC as a racist bunch of people? What are the odds?

I used lived in Chicago for 2 years and it is great city so you have no idea about what are you talking, come on and how you feel if Chicago host Olympics?

Perhaps they remembered Salt Lake and realized that Chicago would make Salt Lake look like child's play and there would be no Mitt Romney to come save the day.

Exactly my sentiment. It's bull. I think other countries should have the opportunity to host and show what they offer - we're so self centered that we think we should get preferential treatment.

Perhaps the bid was lost because Obama went around the world saying how bad the United States is?

Not sure where you got the "David Axelrod cries foul or something" shtick. He was absolutely right in saying that international politics played a role in Chicago not getting the bid. Do you deny that? Also, you make it sound like he was pissing and moaning about it. From the link, it just sounded like he was saying something more along the lines of "c'est la vie."

Try again, numbnuts.

It was all sour grapes for Axelrod. His master plan didn't work out. Boo frickin hoo. It was one big clusterfark. Obama staked his own delusionary "prestige" hoping it'd be the key for a solid win over the IOC. Obviously, they weren't impressed since Chicago received the lowest score in the first round. One clusterfark after another.

Obama doesn't need to go around the world saying how bad the U.S. is. Other countries have had a negative opinion of the U.S. for any number of years, and it has absolutely nothing to do with Obama. If anything, Obama's sensitivity to multicultural perspectives and his ability to extrapolate to the bigger picture will help to change that opinion of other countries. Unfortunately, he can only do so much, and from a political perspective. The opinion of the average American as being rude, uneducated, self centered, and narrow minded will persist as long as we have people like the Teabaggers and the extreme right wing getting media attention.

A bid was submitted. It wasn't accepted. Big freaking deal. No one is making an issue of it but you, and only because you see it as an opportunity to somehow blame Obama for something.

I just had to laugh... since someone quoted the ignored poster...

Obama... bashing the United States? Get real. He would had been castrated already if he was.

Don't confuse disagreeing with conservative values with bashing one's country.

Saw about that this morning in folks' Tribune paper, but didn't have chance to read about it.

Let me return the favor o' confused one.

It's the annointed one's apology tours in Europe and South America with his anti-Americanism spew.
Power Line - Why does he bash us?

It cost $900,000 for The Obama to go to Denmark! What a waste of tax payers money! That money could had help some poor people living Chicago!
The first lady said it was scarifice for her to fly to Denmark! The poor sole , it had to been horrible to fly in a private jet , and get all dress up and hang out with Oprah . then eat a 5 course meal! How care Mrs. Obama whine about flying to Denmark when it did not cost her a dime! And We have people
living in USA in the streets! Thst $900,000 could help a lot of homeless people!

You do realize, don't you, that funds earmarked for specific purposes cannot be used for another purpose?
