It seems to me there are a lot of lesbians on this forum. Don't get me wrong, I'm totally cool gay rights and stuff, it just seemed curious to me that so many lesbians would show up on one forum. Am I right?
 
I'm straight and feel the same way as you do! Yes, I noticed too but there are lot of straight peeps too!
 
:lol: interesting observation here! granted yes we have several lesbians here across the boards -- we also have plenty of straight women here as well and things gets more interesting for us dykes to tease the women across the boards in fun ;)
 
There are plenty of straight and gay people on this forum, there is nearly 4,000 members on All deaf forums, so not everyone posts. I am open minded and I love both of them, they're great people as long they're nice. ;)

Well, I am gay here....I enjoy being "str8" to people! :lol:

If any of those not feel comfty to post then they should go to deaf gay forum instead..... feel even for them...

They LOVED here already. :)
 
There are all different type of people that comes here, I think it is because AllDeaf is a very popular deaf forums where Hearing, Deaf and HOH people come and share their opinions with each others. :thumb:


There is also another forum which I am also a member of which is a lesbian and Gay forum, That doesn't mean I am a lesbian but I go there because my friends are there. ;)

I´m married woman and have 2 children. I enjoy myself to share my posts with lesbians, gays, straight, etc. here. They are great people. :thumb:
 
or maybe it's b/c it seems like GLB tendancies may be more common in the dhh population,.

Can you expand on that....I'm interested in your perspective...I assume from your username that you are both Deaf and Gay :)
 
I actually had noticed the same thing deafdyke, I noticed that there is alot of gay/les/bi in d/hh people. I don't know why but i suspect it is because of two reasons.

1. Since d/hh people feel more united with other d/hh people they are more open minded with other people and eventually are more openminded about gay/les/bi. I mean in hearing people there are many gay/les/bi people who has not come out of the closet because they are afraid of what other will think of him, cuz hearing not that open minded about gay/les/bi people etc.. I read somewhere in school, there are 1 gay/les/bi in every 4 people..

2. Deafness, hard of hearingness (not a word i know shhh..) is caused by something in the ear or head, so possibly affect feelings for same sexs?????
 
I'm bi actually, but am more attracted to girls then to guys.
It might also be genetic....a lot of deafies have genetic causes of deafness, so maybe the deaf gene and the gay gene are connected.....
I know for me, I tend to prefer the person rather then the fact that they possess a particualr set of genitals.....I think also it might be the fact that I can hear women better then I can hear men....Some guys have such low voices, I can't even hear them even with my aids!
 
When you say you tend to prefer the person rather than the genitals....perhaps this parallels a concept of seeing a person rather than a "disability" (if you think there is a disability at all)?

Also need to keep in mind some have been molested in deaf schools or in deaf classes in public school. (going by what my friends have told me)
 
I don't see any connection between being actually being deaf and being homosexual, nor do I feel there is one physically at least. If a forum is open minded and accepting, naturally you will see more of those with different sexual preferences feeling more at ease with sharing those preferences openly as they know they will not be judged by them.

Most diability-related sites are more open minded due to the hardships people face with their disabilities, so I think that goes hand in hand with creating a comfortable environment and encouraging an open minded attitude towards other things as well.
