A man’s body was discovered nailed to a wooden cross in an empty South Korea stone pit, supposedly next to a mirror so he could see himself suffer, according to a New York Daily News report.

Donning a loin cloth and crown of thorns, the man had a stab wound on his side and his feet and hands nailed to the cross, resembling the image of Jesus Christ in the bible’s description of his death. There were two smaller crosses on either side of the man.

Police found a hammer, nails, mirror, an electric drill, more pieces of wood, and a “how-to” guide for constructing crosses. The man’s SUV was also discovered near the stone quarry. Cops are unsure if this was a suicide or homicide, but neighbors claimed the man had intense religious beliefs.

I think in some places, some men got cruxified to praise Jesus. Some religious groups are into that kind of sadistic stuff. Weird.

I don't know about S. Korea but re-enacting the crucifixion, including the wounds, at Easter time is very common in the Philippines.

It sounds like the poor man was wracked with lots of guilt and was trying to redeem himself by imitating the sacrifice of Christ. I'm afraid it doesn't work that way.

Very sad. :(

There are some 'way out there' religious groups in South Korea that preach a false gospel. There are also cults that use the crucifix as the 'catch point' to bring people in that are looking for Jesus. The Moonies come to mind. I do believe their leader is South Korean.

As for the Filipino Easter celebrations, they do it as an act of worship to Christ to take on His wounds as their own. Many are scarred for life from this experience. They have live crucifixions from willing people and large crowds gather to watch these including young children.

I am sure they have a medical staff on stand-by in case a participant is very close to actual death. I think they are removed from the crosses after 3 hours and are immediately taken in for a full medical evaluation and care. This is extreme, but the participants are willing males. No one forces them into this ritual.

Suicide?? Apparently the man can not nail both of his hands on the cross by himself. Assisted perhaps. Obviously did not do it on his own.

That's what I was thinking as well.

Not a Suicide

They must by sick..To Nail yourself to a cross and then raise it would be almost impossible without help...There are many religions practice self flogging as a means of pentence for a wrong doing or even thought. But this is a definate
case of homicide..Ahhh..what does a mirror placed so that this man can watch himself suffer and die say? I must be watching to many NCIS, BONES and Criminal Intent. The article gave clues about what was left at the scene. His car was found at another location. Sorry, but another sick mind and some assistants i am thinking. Just my thoughts..Midnight

how the heck was this suicide? How did he nail his hands to the cross? I don't remember reading about a mirror, drill and SUV in the bible either.
