You know, There's a time when we all die one way or other, right? How would you like to be in a coffin that is not so traditional or perhaps you'd prefer to be in a traditional coffin?

There is a company in UK that is apparently getting a lot of attention due to the coffins they make. I found it interesting. I don't know, I'm more of a traditional type but then, at the same time it is nifty to see something different.

You can have a look and see what you think of these coffins.

Doesn't matter to me once I'm dead and gone I'm not going to care. When I go out I just want my family to cremate me.

I got a good laugh and some of those coffins it is pretty neat. But I can't see putting in so much money on something like that.

Me either. Sure, it'd be nice to depart this world in a good way but I agree, when u die, you don't get your money back if u were not like these crazy coffins. It's not like you can refund it at all when you're dead.

Yes, those coffins are interesting but I don't see myself being in one of those coffins.

Yea it is crazy but why bother spend so much money on that. I already told my son how I wanted to be bury and he know what to do.

Weird!!!

I don't want to be buried...just cremated due to the high costs. So I wanted my ash to be at Lake Tahoe where is my favorite vacation spot.

I would rather be cremated at the final resting place...a creek in a sequoia forest. Dead people don't talk and I don't think a crazy coffin is necessary. A traditional one is good enough for most people who believe burying is proper.

strange looking coffins. I agree about cremation and it is cheaper. I'd rather be cremate than my body rot 6 feet under. There is choice what to do with ashes, scatter to favorite place or bury in urn. With the population in this world, one of the day there wont be any room for coffins to bury. I'd go with cremation.

Agreed. I've noticed that cremation is starting to become more widespread. With the cremation, the family are given more options and they can do what they want to do with their loved ones that has died. Some of them would keep the urn as a memorandum or like you said, scatter it at a favorite place or whatever it is.

I've always been taught that it's proper to have a burial because that's how I see it growing up but however, with the cremation, it takes some consideration as well. I'd also opt for cremation too.

Interesting coffins, most matches and identifies a person's life or strong interest in--however, once in it--it's going underground...forever. Perhaps trying something like 'crazy' tombstones?? Heh....

I remember seeing a website on unusual caskets made in USA. I like the one with USA flags painted all over the casket. I wish I could find that website again.

I also remember a TV program about an African custom of being buried in an unusual casket. I can't remember what country it is in Africa. Anyhow, I remember someone, who sold bananas for a living, want to buried in a banana casket. One has to chop down a certain type of tree (I think that type is endangered) and carve it into a giant banana. One would spend his life savings on a casket. I thought that is crazy.

Just found something like that in Ghana: Leah's Blog: Fantasy Coffins

That guitar coffin would definitely fit Alex since he's into guitar lol

My wish: cremation
If suppose me or my hubby died first.. will going into urn. When I died..and will join my hubby's urn. Means we are vowed in love 2 in 1. as same wedding vows and two candle goes to one candle means 1 together in love!
That what we wanted...
But we have not decide about our urn and will placed at...

Now that is crazy, indeed. I just don't see why one would go to the lengths of getting a coffin that is all fancy and requires every little details into it. Sure, those fantasy coffins are nifty but what's the point of it's use when you're dead? It's not like that coffin would be on display for years to come. People will only be able to see that 'fantasy' coffins for at least 3-4 days at the most during a funeral proceeding. Maybe it's just how I see it this way.

But, on the other hand, If some one wants to have that crazy/fantasy coffins for their funeral proceeding -- that's fine. One would feel that they chose the coffins to represent who they are and what their lives were revolved around. It's cool but the idea isn't really sticking to me.

I was wondering if it was because those people feel like their body is honor for them and want a really nice places where they will lay on?

Well you know....I can undy wanting an unusual urn....but a COFFIN?!?!? That makes NO sense!

I am wondering if a person died, he or she might want a little bit fancy coffin for the Wake and then after the Wake, they can change to traditional coffin. :dunno: Both my mom and dad have passed away three years different between them. They both have been cremated. I am Catholic and my church on the Island here in Canada said no cremate. My husband and I must be bury under the ground. So that mean we will have to use the coffin, unless we make the decison to talk with the lawyer about our will. I still would like to cremate as like all of you said that it is really cost a lot of money to buy the coffin and bury it underground. That would be nice to save all the money to just have us cremate. I am going to have to start making plan as I am getting older by the minutes. I am only 62 years old young and not ready to die yet. lol :giggle:
