I was wondering that too. The moose most likely was protecting it babies.
It was rather stupid of the people to be going into the woods now as the animals are having their babies now and will be hunting for food and are going to be very aggressive about protecting their families. I am very careful about taking Marty out at night and stay away the back yard b/c I know the foxes and coyotes are coming into our yard where there is still an opening . The field been fence off b/c the work going there. It will be interesting to see if the couple do get fined for harassing the moose. I bet the couple wish they had not put their video online now.

It is very important to leave the wildlife alone as long as there are no injury. Many Whites can only take care of some animal(s) who were hurt and then let the animal(s) back into the Wild. And often they don't. But still the Whites kept on taking care of the animals for longer period. So are the baby animals who are not able to fend themselves into the Wild if there is education to teach the baby animals how to survive in the Wild.

As for the couple in the snowmobiles carry their guns for protection from the Wild like Wolves, Bears and probably Moose but they were getting too close to the Moose. The Moose is a big animal and could charge them head on to them but if not, then the couple should not be there in the first place. The Moose do not like to be harass by people like this couple. Well, too bad that the YouTube gave away what they were doing in the Woods.

The couple on the snowmobile where following the moose and that is why they could be fined for harassing it. I saw an up date on the news about this and the idiotic people said they didn't think the moose would get so close to them . WT? did they think the moose was going to take out a camera and take a photo of them on the snowmobile ??? I am glad the damn fools did not kill the moose as she most likely had babies she was protecting .

I am surprised the couple had the presence of mind to video the moose attack. That they had a pistol and fired a warning shot to scare him off is excellent.

This couple has it together. I watched the video. Cruising on snow mobiles at a good speed they were on a snow packed trail/road, the bull moose came running out onto the trail ahead of them and at speed continued on the trail. They did just what would usually be a safe enough maneuver and held back but still moving expecting the moose to veer off and they would cruise on by.

They were concerned for the moose. They noted blood filled ticks on the trail where it had scrimmaged with them. They turned over there notes and video to authorities. It is easy to see the mange on the moose as well.

Moose are sometimes unpredictable. They do not like to give up a trail. Things happen before you come along; for instance something had that moose spooked or it would not have been running in the first place.

They stopped at what would ordinarily be a respectable distance. Moose just do not always follow the script. The good news about this was the moose and the human both survived and were unhurt. It would be an outrageous act of punitive moneygrubbing to fine this couple.
