Royal Baby Puts Cost Of Giving Birth In U.S. To Shame (INFOGRAPHIC)

What's interesting statistic.

My wife and i have the delivery fees 100% covered. We planned this before we even attempted to have a child. We do not want to burden taxpayers with our decision - I wish more people would do the same.

While pregnant, my friends husband lost his job and they had no insurance to cover the cost of birth. I think they had Medicare to cover some of it but yea, it is expensive.

Less than $10,000 on average? Not very shocking really.

Yes, it is embarrassing to our country. :ugh:

Oh wow, I have concern about my sister because she has no insurance and will get Medicaid in next year.

There's a lot of tests here, too. My friends are expecting and they're at 30 weeks. The doctors trying to force them to do a lumbar puncture on the baby. They are very against tests, even ultrasounds, so it's really stressful and this test in particular makes no sense, since all it does is tell you if your baby might have an infection or disease that they will need to treat after birth and could test for afterwards as well without stressing the parents. They went with a midwife the last couple of babies, but the mom had some complications after the last child so they're being more careful now.

We got billed by a doctor who wandered into our room and wasn't related to our case, but figured since he looked at our baby anyway, he'd bill us. Not sure what he was smoking, that didn't fly. Pays to ask questions throughout the pregnancy about what to expect so you don't get ripped off.

Hospitals are required by law to deliver babies despite an inability to pay. So if your sister is pregnant she will be ok.

Not surprised about the cost.... Healthcare and unions plays a role jacking up the price. :(

Oh, I didn't know about this law.

:ty: for information.

I went to ER for kidney stone - in my state (non-union hospital) and DC (unionized hospital). Both used same diagnose and treatment, including CT scan. The ER bill in my state is about couple thousand dollars more than ER bill from unionized hospital in DC.

Not sure why about difference.

Medical anything is just stupidly expensive! I cry a little on the inside when I have to pick people up in the ambulance... An average ride just down the street runs $400 - $600.00 here in Florida! Please, tell me the ambulance uses THAT much gas and labor... -_- Seriously though, it's stupid.

It's likely that healthcare cost and most hospitals (union or not) charges higher -- medications is not cheap, neither is IV, doctor check up, hospital room, etc. Those cost add up big time in America.

What about non-union hospitals in southern states?

I always wonder about illegal immigrant, how they able afford by pay few bucks here in US solid?

They don't pay, but hospitals are still forced to treat them and deliver their babies. That is a major reason our healthcare costs are so high. Especially in the south.

Most of them gave a false information/document or don't pay at all. Our law require hospital to treat patients, regardless on status.

However, some hospitals transported illegal immigrants to their home country like Texas to Mexico, but only if hospital know patient is illegal immigrant.

The problem is that illegal immigrants come here and give birth in U.S hospitals footing the taxpayers bill. Once born in america soil often gives advantage of US citizenship if I recall correctly.

Most end up deported back there, but they'll still come back through loopholes.

Yes, Fourteen Amendment guarantees birthright citizenship to all babies who was born on US soil.

The anchored kids will have choice - stay in US under foster care or stay in other country with their families.

Also, some of them only have mother who is legal immigrant or US citizen, but father is illegal immigrant.
