Have you ever worked for any owner and/or boss that is corrupt? How did you manage it? How did it affect you about your future and/or current supervisors?
Thought this is a good topic to discuss.
Back in 1994, I worked for a Braille company.....one day, I found out that I was laid off from there, and the supervisor there gave me a good Letter of Recommendation. Well, I found out from a coworker that used to work there with me that the President of that company stole THOUSANDS of dollars from the company, and it resulted in job loss for a lot of people, including me. The police had looked for him and a couple of other people in the administration department....I found out later that the President now works (or worked) at a dental office doing "molds for teeth". What a demotion!!!! Today, they have a blind President that works at the Braille company now.
Oh, and the supervisor who wrote the Letter of Recommendation mentioned in there that "she would be happy to have me back"....she obviously lied because I have asked for any position later when I was looking for work at the time, she said there isn't any! She also lied when I asked her if anything's wrong when she was taking me to see the President, and she said there's nothing wrong, then I found out I was going to be laid off!!
It has really affected my trust in supervisors, and the way they seem to "enjoy getting rid of people", but I know that most supervisors are not this bad....so I am still taking my chances in trusting them, but not as much as I used to.
What about you?
Nancy
