Have you ever worked for any owner and/or boss that is corrupt? How did you manage it? How did it affect you about your future and/or current supervisors?

Thought this is a good topic to discuss. :)

Back in 1994, I worked for a Braille company.....one day, I found out that I was laid off from there, and the supervisor there gave me a good Letter of Recommendation. Well, I found out from a coworker that used to work there with me that the President of that company stole THOUSANDS of dollars from the company, and it resulted in job loss for a lot of people, including me. The police had looked for him and a couple of other people in the administration department....I found out later that the President now works (or worked) at a dental office doing "molds for teeth". What a demotion!!!! Today, they have a blind President that works at the Braille company now. :) Oh, and the supervisor who wrote the Letter of Recommendation mentioned in there that "she would be happy to have me back"....she obviously lied because I have asked for any position later when I was looking for work at the time, she said there isn't any! She also lied when I asked her if anything's wrong when she was taking me to see the President, and she said there's nothing wrong, then I found out I was going to be laid off!!
It has really affected my trust in supervisors, and the way they seem to "enjoy getting rid of people", but I know that most supervisors are not this bad....so I am still taking my chances in trusting them, but not as much as I used to. :)

What about you? :)

I've never had problems with my supervisors in the past. The worse I ever had to deal with was when I worked for a local grocery store, Krogers. I was a bagger at that time and working for minimum wage. I had worked hard and earned my supervisor's trust. We got together and talked about him promoting me to a higher position such as clerk or stocker... with higher pay. I was thrilled about it and looked forward to the day it would happen. Before my supervisor could get to the process of promoting me, he got transferred. A new supervisor took his place. Of course, like most supervisors... this new supervisor was strict and anal. Anyway, this new supervisor had no proof or anything that confirmed my chance to be promoted. I had to start over again. I worked hard as usual and earned his trust. We got together and spoke about the same thing as I did with my previous supervisor. Again, before this supervisor had a chance... he was transferred. I had gone through this thing five times before quitting my job. Three of them were women and three of them were men. Each time I had the chance to prove myself, the time span was shorter. I was at that job for a year and a half. I think it was something like 6 months with the first supervisor, 5 months with the second, 3 months with the third, 2 months with the fourth, and 1 month with the fifth. After that, I just quit. I'm glad I quit though. A few jobs later, I ended up at Blockbuster Video and worked there as manager for almost 5 years. :thumb:
