does anyone have/had one? what were your experience with them, might get one down the road.

My friend has one...he's the cutest and sweetest little boy...quite hyper also,,she says he's a very good "snuggable buddy" .

 lady

I haven't lived with Corgis but have worked with them as a trainer and I know many people who live with these dogs. Corgis are a working herding group of dogs <Pembroke and Cardigan Welsh> , meant to work cattle. They are active outgoing and athletic dogs who need a job. Not that you wrote this but just because they're short doesn't make them fragile. If you're interested in Corgis my first idea is to contact Corgi rescue and see what lands them in rescue because those are the kind of traits you would need to be aware of and work with in a new Corgi who comes to you. <regardless of where she comes from>
As with any working or herding dog, unless you adopt a senior animal, be prepared for a high amount of activity you will have to provide your Corgi in order for her to have the most fulfilling life she can have.
I ask clients - why do you want a certain dog? What will the two of you do together?

I saw a BBC show on PBS that Prince Charles made for his mother's Diamond Jubilee. Among the family photos and films were some with the Corgis. Charles commented that they are cute when they are little, but you have to remember they are working dogs. They herd people and tend to nip at the heels.

Why not contact Corgi rescue groups? I'm sure they're qualified to share their experiences of having a Corgi dog.

I had one. He was really cool. If you have other pets I wouldn't recommend them though. Corgis get very jealous and territorial. But if it will be a single pet I would get one for sure.

Mine would herd kids....It was pretty awesome.

There are a lot info on line about breeds of dogs , I posted one link.

It is really not if a breed is good for a person , it is if the person is good for the dog. A person experience with a Corgi really can't help you decide if this breed is good for you. That person could have a lot more experience than you and will be able to handle any kind of dog.

Wirelessly posted

Our family has 2 corgis. They are extremely energetic especially when there is more than one. I would recommend, if you choose to get one, only get one and with no other dogs. We had a lot of trouble training them to behave.
