Cool Safari wagon!!!

As you may know, I travel a lot. I like to take pictures of cool vehicles that I see on my trips. Those are ones that I didn't google up. I stopped and took pictures myself. Here is a Pontiac Safari wagon.

As you can see, it's pretty low to ground. Just think...when was the last time you saw a wagon like this one?? Do you remember having one like this?

If you don't like this wagon, don't worry, I'll put up a different classic next week .

Sounds like there's a story behind that. What is it? I think busting out the windas and ya gots yerself a chicken coop.

Looks like a '76. Those things were huge and handled like a pregnant whale.

My Dad's buddy had a '71 Grand Safari wagon, with the faux woodgrain side panels, Pontiac mag wheels, and that venerable 455ci under the hood.

Great fuel mileage too...8mpg.


Ugly, too. Looked like this except it was avocado green with mags:

Used car dealers here advertise certain cars as "fishing cars." That means they run OK but they're only good enough for fishing trips with the buddies. It's comfy and big enough to haul all your fishing gear, bait, coolers, etc. It also means that you can get it dirty (inside and out) and not worry about it. They're usually sold "as is."

There was the past and this is now. Did the Aspen you see have a turbo engine or was it the basic model? I never saw a souped up Aspen.

All Aspens & Volares only had 3 engine choices, the 225 slant-six, the 318 and 360 V-8's, no turbos. The R/T model was the best looking model, and had the 360 V-8. Here are some other cool pics of the R/T model:

Makes me curious how many different hood styles there were for the Aspen R/T model.

I don't know. What if space junk fell from the sky and crushed their car as they drove off the lot?

I don't deal in "what ifs."
