I created this thread more to talk about the idea behind having conversation piece. It can be anything small or big. I'm curious about why people like to have conversation piece(s). What is the purpose of it? Is it to show what you like or an ice breaker for guests to have something to talk about?

Some people like having conversation piece. Some does not.

In my case, I have a lot of bike figurines laying around. I like to talk about bikes with other people.

So how do you feel when you go to people's house and see stuffs laying around that would be ideal conversation piece? DO you care or do you pass them over?

I have lots of old stuff all over. Like antique flea market stuff. I guess you could say it conversational. I just find it interesting but people like to ask about it.

i got flea market stuff and that do make it intresting, but if converstaion going be turbos then non starter

 If you hung out with my crowd then putting a turbo on the coffee table would get everyone talking

I have a lot of toys that say "turbo" on them. I will be sure to lay them out for visitors. I am sure they will be so excited and tell everyone.

Seems like it would need to involve propane :hmm: Lawsuit waiting to happen?

My grandfather's old Night Watchman's Clock...(he was a night watchman for a big store in our Town)....pretty old, a good conversation piece...plus a lot of very old pictures, dated back to the 1920's...An odd Bamboo bookcase with table in-between...never seen one like it and have had it since 1970, refinished it also.
