Communicating at work

<---Do NOT use phone at work whenever possible, even with telecoil....its not all that's cracked up to be. If there's any noise at all I just can't understand.

Big thank you hugs all around, all very informative and interesting to read.

I was a bit apprehensive about going from HA to CI - but this seems to be no problem.

This is interesting - I can only use phone with the T switch to block out background noise. Yesterday I received my 1st digital aid and must admit it almost blew my ear off when I used the phone on the usual volume I use it on. Whoa. Need to get used to this. Almost like going from regular tv to sound surround.

I'm a graphic artist for an environmental group. They had set me up with a TTY but then we changed phone services and the quality on our lines went down just enough to garble all the TTY messages. Now I use Sprint IP Relay for out-going calls. I have no options for someone to call me. They said they would get me a pager but they've been dragging their feet on that for months now. I would make a stink about it but I'm planning on quitting in a few months anyway.

I have had the problem with people hanging up on the relay service. It's usually when I'm calling around trying to get price quotes on jobs. So if the people want to hang up on me then they obviously don't want our business. (I even emailed a couple of them to explain that I was calling to try to give them some business, but since they hung up on me I would take my money else where.)

There are only about 40 of us in the organization and people either just come by my desk or email me when they want something.
