You know that Sarah Palin's family gets around $30,000 a year from collecting tax money from oil companies? Socialism at its finest!

Ladies? Thoughts?
I think it's sad that people are promiscuous and bear children out of wedlock rather than establishing a strong relationship as a married couple first. This is how families end up, on permanent welfare without a dad in the home. :(

I agree. No question about it.

Oops.. sent too early... but that's not the problem in that article. The problem is that the welfare system there pays MORE for their benefits THAN that husband could provide so they divorced to get more money from welfare.

It seems that the government safety net has become the government incentive to immorality.

Where are the other fathers of those children? Why aren't they paying support to the mother?

I'm a little bit suspicious of the "need" for the divorce from the military husband. I don't know as much about other countries' military compensation but in America, that family would have made out well enough on the husband's benefits. They would be entitled to military base housing (no charge), medical services for the dependents, and tax-free shopping at the commissary and exchange. Also, the soldier's base pay would increase from single rate to with dependents rate. I suspect there is more to the story that we aren't getting.

Regardless, it's a screwy system that encourages women to have babies without husbands.

In my opinion.

Are you expecting women to defend this woman? My first reaction is where are the sperm donors that should pay child support?

Those who abuse the system are usually bright. They know the laws and its loopholes. It's unfortunate that those people are unable to refrain from indulging themselves with taxpayers' money.

I know that it's hard to live on government welfare as a single mother in the UK from talking to the Scottish immigrants.

However when things like this trickle out to the mass media, I garauntee you that the people in the articles know the in-and-outs of the laws and are claiming to be innocent. The ones that NEED the services are woefully under-represented.

A woman wasn't forced to take an unknown donor's sperm. The woman decided on her own initiative to have a baby that way. So, having a sperm donor pay for child support does not make any sense.

She doesn't mean an impersonal medical procedure done at a clinic for a fee. Sallylou was being facetious, meaning the biological fathers who apparently haven't behaved as fathers in any real sense of the word.

In that case, why are we worrying about this? I'd think the Brits would be unhappy at this person and they'd do something about how she's using the system. I'll leave it to the Brits to take care of this.

Same thing applies here in the states.

Kinda funny...

The intellectuals, that we worship, of our nations brought us many things.

Yet... We turn a blind-eye to the intellectuals that undermine laws and programs that were not meant to be exploited until society goes "oh shit."

Those stuck in-between the bipolar struggle of opposing intellectuals that create and destroy things are forced to go with the flows.
