This morning, I saw a girl aged about 12 wearing hearing aids that were bright red. What colour - different from what you wear now - would you like for your next equipment, and why?
my next ones i am hoping will be clear translucent no color cuz there is none but meh..lol the translucent is cool!
Mine are translucent AND purple! Hahaha
i no longer wear hearing aids, but i wish colored aids had been available when i started wearing bte's in 1985. perhaps then my family and friends wouldn't have had to nag me to wear them.
Hear Again,
I'm curious. Since you were born blind, I know you've never seen colors. What do colors mean to you? How do you "perceive" (?visualize/imagine?) them?
I'm intrigued
well to be honest, colors don't mean alot to me since i've never been able to see them.
however, in one of the threads here on ad in which pinky asked us to name our favorite colors, i happened to mention that i wished there were a way i could experience color tactually. it was then that another ad'er responded to my post by describing various colors in terms of feelings and emotions. since i know what emotions are, it made it easy for me to better understand what various colors mean.
even though i wouldn't be able to see the color of my hearing aids back then (had they been available), it still would have been awesome to have them knowing that i no longer had to wear boring beige and could make a fashion statement of my own.
well I know sometimes blind try to "feel" color aka hot is associated with red and cold is associated with "blue" so sometimes blue can also be associated with ice and hot spicy foods or a hot surface...

that's true and i have had friends who described colors to me in that way. in that sense, i understand what the colors red and blue mean.
That totally makes sense if you think about it. Blue is a cool color, as in water, red is hot, as in fire. For green, I would think lush green leaves or perhaps lettuce? Hum...there is a thought..it could get confusing though, as the jalapeno pepper is one of the hottest there are, and it is green. How do you do it Lisa? It boggles my mind and I see colors....
Why metal? Just curious, as the obvious is that they are reusable, but is there another reason? Learning what colors are neutral is good for anyone according to "What Not to Wear". Sorry..just had to put a joke in there...to tell you the truth, i don't know. when i was in blind rehab, i learned what colors go with what and which ones are neutral, so that makes working with colors (i.e. matching clothes) a little easier. (by the way, i use metal braille clothing tags to match my clothes)

Right now, mine are white with orange hibiscus flowers. I'm looking to get rid of these and would love some translucent purple ones next. Although, if they make some completely clear ones so you can see inside, that would be pretty awesone.
