It's great to keep learning!!
Actually, I had read the book by Oliver Sachs. "Seeing Voices" which was interesting at the time, but this was years before our daughter was born.2kids1hoh said:You are so right. I never heard about CI's either. I didn't even know how the inner ear works and makes people hear. It was just something I never thought about.
I always had an interest in sign language, from when I was younger. I never learned it, but looked into it a few times. It's funny how things happen, now I actually have a reason to learn it. Maybe it was just my destiny.

I actually send him an email asking if he would do a follow-up, since there have been lots of changes since he wrote the book.
Still, if you can find it... a great read!

Certain mufflers on cars and motorcycles (those that sort of amplify the engine noise) - I like the Harley sounds though

Last night, I was trying to watch the fireoworks from my apt campus. there are several location around Tucson that are shooting fireworks. But somehow, it started raining around that time so I couldn't see them. since Monsoon season just has started then last night was lighting/thunderstorm. so I could watch outside in my patio and enjoy the view of lighting and enjoy the sounds of thunders.
Now... last time was amazing... the thunders are more clearer than last year and previous since I got implanted. this time I learned that all thunders are not short sounds. They are resonating sounds. whoa!! it's like listening to concert!
When the lighting strike, then loud boom comes up then resonate and fade out It is like water ripple. (you drop stone into water it create splash then ripple out and fade out) some thunders goes from loud to soft and some go from loud to soft then loud then soft. I am like thrilled.
...
Yeah, a echo or it could be because of the mountains that we have around Tucson... hmm...sr171soars said:Good description of the sound of thunder! Yea, I noticed that very shortly after I had my hookup. It was so weird as I didn't realize all the sounds in it. It is almost like it echoes which in a way is probably true given where it strikes.
