Closed captioning on newer TV's

No, it's a 31 inch TV. Not a monitor. I will google the model # and see what I come up with.

I asking you, did you turn it on CC on analog? you can see them channels, get a CC1 for all English captions. If you go to CC on digital
go to CS1. Please try it out.

We can't even find the CC options (e.g. CC1, CC2, etc.) NOTHING !!

Almost makes me think the cc chip got left out of this TV somehow !! lol

What about Ipod or DVD player laptor if less than 13", huh?

DVD player doesn't come with CC but subtitle as it's available from disc.

Current, there are no public CC support of any tv/movie on iPod yet.

at least 13" is basic required on FCC rules on television only.

I'm not sure what your point is? I didn't come up with the name...

We've tried everything. Nothing brings up any cc options. Not all remotes have the ability to pick up cc, sometimes it has to be done by pressing the menu buttons directly on the TV and we still can't find any cc options. The TV's only a year old, and not hi-def.

I found from website about 27MS3404/17, check on FAQ.

Question
How do I turn on or off the closed caption?

Answer
To turn on the closed caption using the remote:-

Press the 'CC' button to display the current closed caption setting.
Press the 'CC' button repeatedly to select from the closed caption options (CC1, CC2 or CC MUTE). Normally CC1 is selected. For CC MUTE mode, the closed caption will only be displayed whenever the 'MUTE' button on the remote is pressed.
To turn off the closed caption using the remote:-

Press the 'CC' button to display the current closed caption setting.
Press the 'CC' button repeatedly to select CC OFF mode from the closed caption options. When CC OFF mode is selected, the closed caption is turned off.
Note: The dialogue (and description) for the action on the captioned television program will appear on the TV screen if the tuned program is broadcasting CC information.

You need check on remote again to find CC button, only find on first party remote, not third party remote.

That's interesting. Because we have the remote. And there is no CC button on it.

In that case, go to the Menu or equivalent button.

She already stated on her post #30 that she couldn't find the closed caption option on the menu...

I had a 37 inches Magnavox TV for almost 17 years until it finally gave up and I had no problem located the closed caption option on the Menu, what your friend needs to do is go to the store where he brought it at and find out what he can do to get the closed caption to come on, he may need a new remote, or they may have forgotten to put a CC chip in it I dunno....I wish I was there so I could help your friend find it, but it's hard to help without looking at it first...

That's interesting. Because we have the remote. And there is no CC button on it.

Are you using first party or third party remote?

First party remote means Magnavox brand, that come with unopened tv.

Third party remote is just like Sanyo, Philips or non-Magnavox brands.

You can buy first party remote from magnavox website for $45.

The remote control Pacman listed appears to have CC. I found a user manual at:

Philips Support - PM435S

If it does not work, you can always return it.

She got tv from hearing guy, that found from previous post then cannot return to store, only can give back to hearing guy.

Sorry that I was not clear about my last post.

I meant if the CC from Phillips remote control didn't work, they could return the Phillips remote control, not the TV.

Mod: please close this thread.

The TV is not mine as I already stated above. He bought it brand new at a store and it came with a remote that does NOT have a cc button, nor can we find it on the TV menu control panel either. Something's messed up. He's going to call Magnavox customer service himself and see if he can resolve this issue. He bought it a year ago before he even met me and didn't need the cc because he's hearing (I'm deaf.)

Mod Note:

Thread's closed per user's request--

(as for this thread, hopefully a solution will be found soon. ;) )
