From the July 4 (happy US Independence Day!!) Blue edition of Deaf News:
Attention: children in the Colorado locale that are 5-11 years of age with excellent signing skills

Versatile Productions and AmazinChristy are announcing auditions to be held for the upcoming "Christy's Kids: Challenge Yourself" TV pilot for PBS. We are looking for children in the Colorado locale that are 5-11 years of age with excellent signing skills. We are also looking for charismatic interpreters with extensive experience with performances. Please send a brief Bio to mailto:Audition4Christy@AOL.com .

Please include any past experience with acting, any special talents and any other relevant skills. Auditions will be held on July 9th, location to be announced at a later date. Shooting for the TV pilot will begin on July 19, 2004 in the Roaring Fork Valley.

That sounds a bit funny. She didn't sign on Survivor and she's expecting kids to be part of her show to have excellent signing skills?

Yeah, but on Survivor she didn't want to be given any special treatment whilst on that show. She did sign here and there -- taught a few signs to some of her tribe members. :)
 
hmmm

christy sent me a paper about the show and I think it sounds cool. It will teach little kids some signs. I wonder if christy is gonna be on it? Christy is really stuck up! shes kinda full of her self. I got her e-mail (I worked hard for it) and I wanted to kinda be friends with her and mabe we could write back in forth by e-mail, but she just asked for my address and sent me an autograph. that was kool, however she did not want to talk to me. I thougth she was really kool but i have come to the conclution shes not. This is just my opinion so if you know christy and disagree with me, im just stating my opinion, what I have come to in this short amount of time.

Wait a minute! She's looking for kids who are experienced and she wants kids to come to the show so that she can teach them some signs? That doesn't make sense.

She probably get a lot of e-mails, and too many people to deal with right now. Don't be surprised if she give you the impression that she don't want to be friends.
 
Exactly Banjo...it's not that she doesn't want to be friends...she's a celebrity and problay doesn't have time to personally answer e-mails and the like.
This is wicked cool....I hope this show will be on ALL PBS stations!

Don’t be too hard on Christy. I had the good fortune of meeting her at a public function several months ago and having the chance to talk to her for over an hour. I’ve also talked to her online a couple of times and I’ve received a couple of e-mails from her. There’s no doubt in my mind that she’s just as warm and sincere as she appeared to be on TV, but she’s definitely also a little on the scatterbrained side. ;) Just give her a chance for her life to return back to normal, and I’m sure she’ll be a little more communicative in the future. :)

My sister had the great opportunity to interview Christy after Christy had completed Survivor: The Amazon series -- in the interview, Christy was extremely friendly and bubbly.
My sister told me she was really, really friendly and nice. Enjoyed the interview and the time they had in chit chatting, etc. :)

So, overall, Christy's a bit overwhelmed with alot of fans e-mailing her and all the commitments she has all over the USA. So, she's a busy person these days. Go easy on her, mate. ;)
 
actually Christy does sign, as she did in her audition tape to Survivors. She didnt want to sign during the show because it would serve no purpose to do so. Survivors is not the place to promote Deaf culture and ASL. Survivors is all about surviving and that is what Christy did, relied on her speaking and lipreading skills to survive in hearing world.

I think it's rude to think of yourself, and expect Christy to be friends with you, and everyone. Like some ppl here said, she's a busy lady and has a lot to do.
