China Massacres 50,000 Dogs in Anti-Rabies Campaign

Why are they paying people to go out and get sticks to beat up the dogs when they could pay for cages for people to keep their dogs in for 10 days to see if they have rabies and vaccinating the ones that don't? I wonder if they even checked to see if any of them were vaccinated or if they didn't care about the 3% that were. Or maybe the military and police dogs are the 3% that were vaccinated.

Yep that's true there's no birds flying in the sky, my aunty told me that when she visit China years ago...

But darn they are sooooo cruel to animals all animals living there... geez.

I just knew. Soo sad ! I feel sorry for the children, too - because, they won't be able to know the dogs' barkin' and birds' singin' in their future generation. I am very fortunate to live in the USA instead of livin' in China.

Very upsetted after I found out about this. Refused to read it ... It is extremely disturbing. This world is becoming crazy lately.

Yeah I know what ya mean I refused to read about it also. Its a shame though how people can do that. Like to see those same people get try that with the wrong dog and rip them to shreds.

This is what she posted.................

My laziness flared up yesterday and I spent most of the afternoon
watching way too much TV. I came across the China news channel
and lo and behold there was the story of the dog massacre.
I was trying to take notes but the newsperson was talking pretty fast. This
is what I was able to write down:
She stated there were 200 rabies related deaths in the month of
July and over 2000 reported deaths annually. Sounds a bit over
the top to me.The report showed lots of clips of people being treated for animal bites.
Anyway- it stated there was a huge uproar from outraged animal lovers who
criticized the culling. This caused the government to implement new
methods of dealing with the problem.
Vaccinations will be compulsory and certain breeds of dogs won't be
allowed to be kept as pets. There will be more effort toward educating
the public, etc...
Good work, outraged animal lovers!

And you belive what the communist goverment of china says?

Errr…yeah—I didn’t think of that. :| I’d like to see some verification of this myself.

I signed the petition. I am outraged!
I can't believe such lazy actions have been taken.
For their neglect to vaccinate dogs and protect people.
Such beautiful dogs, they should have been able to ship them out.
So that we can adopt those dogs.
I am sure many of us would have taken someone's dog in.

I don't like when they kill dogs instead of having a education about rabies, vaccines for the dogs that don't have rabies, etc. I find it interesting that they use collies in the chinese armies. Here in the US, they use german shepards or similar.
