all I can say is :jaw: General Motors (Buick, Chevy, Pontiac, Cadillac, GMC, Hummer, Saab, Holden, Vauxhall, and Saturn) is probably going to link up with Nissan and Renault in a 3 way alliance in order to beat Toyota and allow GM to keep its status as the world's largest car maker.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) - The board of General Motors (GM.N) will meet on Friday and its discussions will include a proposal to join the alliance formed by Renault (RENA.PA) and Nissan (7201.T), GM said on Tuesday.

It's going to be one big company merger since the 1998 merger between Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep to make DaimlerChrysler.

Dang... and well, they better make a better car that saves lots of gas than make it a gas guzzler. like do something about CAFE.

Yes Saab is Swedish but GM owns it lock stock and barrel since it was bought out over 10 years ago.

If you noticed the Saab 9-7x SUV looks almost like a Chevy TrailBlazer, the Saab SUV does almost sure look it from the front end and it even got a Chevy motor instead of the traditional Saab turbo 4-banger engine.

I liked the old Saabs better than the newer Saabs because GM owns it now. Even tho, there's a Saab with a turbocharged 2 liter 4 cylinder boxer Subaru engine and a Subaru looking body style. I could call it Saabaru ;)

LS7 option in the next gen skyline anyone?

 wouldnt it be great to see a LS7 powered GT-R Skyline V35? But in return, GM would have to do the twin turbo VQ35 Skyline engine in a Corvette Blue Devil. If they did the swap, the whole Corvette community would be raising hell over it and crucify the Corvette's chief engineer for that! Zora Arkus-Duntov the Corvette's father would be rolling in his grave if a Japanese engine made its way into a Corvette engine bay.

Oh by the way the CEO of GM doesnt even think its a good idea to do the alliance with Renault and Nissan 'cause GM is working on its own to turn around the company. 50-50 the alliance might happen or not. But GM might have to do it just to get 89 year old Kirk Kerkorian (owner of 9% of GM stock) off their backs.

It aint the first time Renault is trying to own a piece of an American car company. In the 1970's Renault owned a good chunk of American Motors, the company that brought you the Gremlin, Hornet and the Javelin/AMX plus Jeep. Crappy sales of the made-in-America Renault Alliance and Encore forced Renault to sell AMC and Jeep to Chrysler in 1987.
