Checkout the new military draft for men and woman age 18-26

The American soldiers train Iraqi (and other foreign armies) how to fight for themselves. The plan is, as more Iraqi soldiers become trained, then more American soldiers can come home. The Iraqi soldiers will take on the responsibilities of protecting their own country, and not depend fully on American soldiers to do that.

That is the goal. It doesn't always work out because sometimes there are not enough loyal men in that country to replace the American troops. But that is the goal.

That's why Bush cannot say exactly WHEN
will American troops come home until AFTER
Iraq soliders learn how to defend themselves
in their own country. More questions about
why should we worry about Iraq more than

In Israel, they force both male and female youngsters to become part of the Israeli army. I do not know exactly what the female Israelis do, but I think I saw a TV show before that they did take part of army trainings alongside with males, and actively take part in combat.

The women get the training but they are not assigned to active combat roles.

Thinking that women are weak is quite an old-fashioned ideology, subscribing to the mass opinion that women are unable to fend for themselves.

Women in general are physically weaker than men in general. There are a few exceptions.
How many women do you personally know who can pick up a 200-lb. injured man, put him over their shoulders, and carry him out of danger?
The military phyiscal fitness requirements for women are easier than the men's. The women are allowed to run slower, do fewer push-ups, etc.
Women have better stamina and pain tolerance (note: childbirth); but they have less large muscle strength.

I wonder if my father was one of them. He served as a medic in the Vietnam War. I'll have to ask him.

Not all medics are concientious objectors. Most medics choose that specialty because they love medical and rescue work. Most medics who served in Vietnam bravely faced terrible dangers and awful situations. The medics and nurses were real heroes.

I am perplexed, the letter is 2003. Obviously, it is Republication who make the decision. I thought, it was Democratic but I was wrong.

Democrats sponsored the draft bill. Republicans are against a draft.

medical issues are important for age 18 to 24. They are not able into military with physcial or mentaly unstable.

They want to drafting the young people to allow closure the bases to save our tax payers. That is really bullshit.

How many MEN do you see hoisting a 200-pound guy on his shoulders and skeedaddling outta there? Good Lord, it is a shooting gallery out there and it would be suicide to do that. We are not equipped for this type of war. Any lady can pull a trigger, as is obvious in Iraq. The right-wing media calls them "insurgents"---the dictionary defines it as someone who rises against a lawful authority, and let's not kid ourselves, we are not lawful there--but they are really guerillas, which the doctionary describes as "bands of soldiers which harrass the enemy by surprise raids, attacks on communication and supply lines, etc" which is EXACTLY what is going on there. We can NEVER defeat them, because they mingle with the general population, they ARE the population.
