I lost faith in the genealogy record for two reasons. One was because it is already messed up from years of being labeled as Colored ( this mean you could be Native Indian, African American, Asian) and Mulatto (colored who have at least one white parent) .... Many people from my state found it very hard to trace down their genealogy record. Two, you don't know who your real parents are. as far as I'm concern, the mother probably used another man as the father.

It is important to interview your living relatives to gather information. You have to go to the places where they have records. You may check books, too. It can be a time consuming.

In Southern states, "colored" records exist. Some of them can be marked "M" under Colored records. M stands for Mulatto. Tracing your American natives ancestors can be difficult due to oral history like mine. Some tribes converted to Christianity. I am very very impressed with those Asian countries, because they can trace their family all the way to 1000s and even further back.

Ah, funny, Souggy.

It's true...

She got 7 kids. One of them were born while my grand-dad was in Europe for two years... Even the kids themselves feel like my grand-dad is not their biological dad.

Seriously? Are you going to ask?

I have more faith books and family than I do with census as far as genealogy research.

We have one in our family too. He is the only one that doesn't know. Kinda funny and kinda sad. His dad married the mother after she had become pregnant by another man. The mom and dad are both about 5'6" (little bitty people) he is 6'4"

My mom's and my red-hot fireball temper is enough for us to know we're related to my grandfather. ;)

If he did, and find out the guy is not his real grandfather, then where would he look? I think it would just drive him crazy that the grandfather have to be listed as "????"

I haven't met my biological dad yet. :D

And I am not curious... yet.

lol, I'm sorry, but refusing to participate in the census as a form of protest just seems absolutely ridiculous to me.

Gotta love those conservatives; you guys are so unused to protesting that you rail against anything with a big "Federal Government" attached to it. I admire your passion, but you gotta pick and choose your battles.

Conservatives I know did fill out the forms have passion for genealogy. I dunno.

I sent mine in at least :)

We are ay 34% compliance nationally with only 3 days remaining until the deadline. Sounds like more than a protest. Also with 21% compliance in Houston it sounds like it is much more than just conservatives.

It isn't just conservatives but libertarians, democrats, independents, republicans, and so on who are also protesting as well. There isn't enough of us to even make that kind of impact so it's coming from other people who are just absolutely disgusted with the current administration and Congress' behavior and irresponsbility.
