Car insurance is required, why not health insurance?

Hence, universal coverage. It will benefit every man, woman, and child in this country.

That requires a kind nation. Are we? :(

It's not only him. I had to go through the same thing when I had bronchitis in Edmonton while going to University. Didn't have to pay for E.R. visit, but had to pay for prescription and clinic visits for two months after that. The University found out and told me I shouldn't be paying them out of my own pockets, but rather billing them to my student medical insurance.

Prescriptions only cover on extended medical, not MSP. This private clinic? This why you pay.

No, that wasn't routine.

The point wasn't that. It was the $45,000 tag. Out of my control and thats why insurance is going up.

Try billing that to the government insurance. they will say "We'll only pay $6000. you figure the rest out." << arbitrary of course.

Forget it, sunny. When I moved to B.C. in 2008, I was shocked to find out the government foot the clinical bills.

Ralph Klein semi-privatized Albertan healthcare in '94 and he slashed the public sector down to only providing the basic services. The expansion of the public sector wasn't re-enstated until about 2010; and there are still services B.C. provides for "free", and the neighbour doesn't.

Born and raised Albertan. :)

To be frank, if it wasn't for Klein privatizing mental institutes, I would had grown up in one of them. It took people 6 years to figure out I wasn't autistic.

Then they would try to get rest somewhere else.. Mostly likely from person that got medical care!

Ralph  Klein? Poor Alberta, clean up that hangover.

In any event, Rainbow live Edmonton, not pay anything your diabetic friend pay for. Her husband work Fort McMurray, so not matter low income either.

Health insurance requirement should be a law!

Car insurance is required by law but 63% of the vehicles in Houston are uninsured. You would think that drivers without insurance would take care and be concern about others having too pay the cost of an accident BUT they drive crazy and don't give a damn.

Compare that to a law that requires health insurance. With private insurance, like auto insurance, many, many will ignore the law. With government insurance, all will be covered AND the greater majority will NOT be careful and they WON'T give a damn who pays for their negligence (which is us who live right).

This whole thread is a waste of time BECAUSE show me in the Constitution where the government is allowed to do this, mandatory government health insurance. Remember the Court has already ruled Obamacare illegal.

Being required to buy liability insurance is equally illegal and unconstitutional.

Sorry, BAD idea to require people to have health insurance. Many people can't afford it and that is their choice not to carry health insurance and find different ways to cover it.

Get a clue!! It is unconstitutional on the U.S. government level. The constitution allows for local and state laws made by the people. So yes, your state can force you to have auto insurance, so spoke WE THE PEOPLE.

You got anything to back up those ridiculous claims?

There you go. If we can't require a citizen to have health insurance, we certainly cannot require them to have car insurance. :cool2:

So, what do you suggest happen when one of these uninsured people gets cancer and racks up a medical bill for a couple million dollars inside a year? How are they going to cover those expenses?

People not having insurance because it is unnaffordable, because their employer doesn't offer it, because they make too much for a government sponsored insurance, or because they are young and believe they are invincible is what has gotten us into the medical crisis we are experiencing today.

People need affordable options for coverage and the guarantee that their insurance company is not going to cut them off claiming a pre-exisiting condition. That is what Obama's plan was all about. It got way watered down, thanks to stupid, irrational, and illogical objections.
