Who knew that the peanut butter and jelly sandwich could be reinvented?

The inventors at Mark One Foods have taken the staple lunch for American elementary school students, disassembled it, shoved it in a can and are now selling it at $12 a pop for four sandwiches, Time reported.

Inside the peel-top cans is the pb & j, plus a roll, as well as utensils for preparing and consuming the basic meal.

Currently there's only one flavor, but the company's website says there will soon be a strawberry flavored jelly, in addition to grape, and also a bbq-chicken sandwich.

Mark One Foods has been in the spotlight not only for the culinary innovations but also because a money manager was accused in July 2010 by the federal Securities and Exchange Commission of funneling investors' funds into the Candwich company instead of real estate, as he had allegedly promised to do.

I would rather make them the traditional way. We got a lot of peanut butter for free from the food bank so it's gonna take a while to use it up. I bet those PB&J from the can have some crap added to it.

Ewwww. That sounds gross!! I am not a big PB fan anyways and I am also not a fan of canned goods!!

Ouch... you read at the bottom of the article... the money manager was in trouble for funneling funds from investors into this product instead of something else as promised? Eek!

If he's doing that, then who knows what he will do with this product... later?

He might decide to get cheap and use something else in order to be cheap and the product goes bad.

Bad business. Canwich already sounds like a cheap nasty product that they want to sell for a higher price that it is worth.

People will buy it simply because the fact it is new and it comes out of a can. :ugh: Not me!!

That is the worst idea I have seen in a long time. :barf:

Isn't there already a PB&J mixture out there? I think 'Smuckers' makes it. It's PB&J together in a jar. Just mash some out in a disposable container with two slices of bread and, voila! You now have a similar product that likely tastes better and is of better quality than this odd 'Candwich' brand stuff. They basically re-invented the wheel.

How stupid. They are much cheaper to make at home the traditional way.

I think peanut butter and jam taste better together than with jelly.

There's a Lunchables, too. It has packets of peanut butter and jelly so that your kid can assemble his own sandwich at lunch. I make the sandwiches the old fashioned way.
