Also railraods are appealing because they consume the LEAST energy of all kinds of transportation when carrying heavy load. I assume the new railraod will be all magnetic?

Yep, you read the title....it passed with a yes vote! California is gonna get a shiny new 220 mph high speed trains linking LA and SF and San Diego, etc.
Wow! That's awesome! I wish Texas offers that!

High speed railroads will likely be one of the popular transportations as more people spread out.

And it would be so nice to see mountains on a high speed rail!

Texas possibility will. They are talking about it right now. They want to connect 3 major cities of Texas which they call it triangle beltway, I think.

Yeah, that is true about it being energy efficent. No, it's standard steel wheels on rail technology. Check the website link I provided in the first post, you'll see what it may look like. Maglev rail technology isn't popular due to cost and other reasons, I forgot.

Wow, nice! Can't wait to have my light rail coming to my city lol..

Yeah, I have heard that but it never seems to materialize. It sounds like a GREAT idea because it connects to ALL major cities (Houston, Dallas, San Antonio, and Austin)

Wow! I never knew it was possible to achieve high speed on regular steel wheels!!! I'd think it's hard to keep the wheels ON rail. LOL!

It will in time of planning. California planned that for 14 years, I don't know how long Texas have planned it.

It is possible! This was only ridden by staff, no revenue service, the purpose of the video was to achieve a speed record, it will not be reliable at that speed due to the friction and wear and tear. It took about 5 miles to stop the train from the top speed. Check this video of the world record speed.

Hot damn! That's AMAZING! I never knew it was possible to go that fast on WHEELS! I can imagine wheels smoking HOT!

Yeah! They used bigger wheels and raised the line voltage from 25,000 to 31,000 volts, shortened the train to reduce weight to acheive that speed.

Interesting if they really are cutting state employee wages by %5 and yet can afford this.:hmm:

They used to have train but drop because of Southwest Airline which is cheap fare. I'm interest to have them launch train next to highway (I-35, I-10, & I-45) to make fast travel as possible than airplane and easy to pick up baggage instead have trouble with wait from airplane.

What train they used to have? Slow moving train?

This is not much of a cross country route for Amtrak as it looks limited routes.

Yeah, not even Boise, Souix falls, Cheyenne, etc have the Amtrak service...that's really sad.

Yup, same with Las Vegas but used to be until 1997, I think so.

Amtrak isn't cheaper than fly on airplane anymore because rate is so expensive and depends on anywhere would take in.
