California Proposition 1A, High Speed Rail infrastructure

Yep, you read the title....it passed with a yes vote! California is gonna get a shiny new 220 mph high speed trains linking LA and SF and San Diego, etc. It should be open to service early as 2020. Boy, that is a looong wait and ask yourself as if the state of California could afford something like this? High unlikely!

well, they have planned it for 14 years. The taxes to fund it will happen, which the voters approved that. It is not a long wait and that's normal length of time. You are building a state high speed rail system spanning hundred of miles, which takes a while to construct.

Yes, I could imagine how much work it takes esp the mountain parts, but my point is the tax money needed to cover for it yet state of California's economy is not in good shape... almost bankruptcy.

Depends how the tax structure works, the voters can dissolve the agency it if they ask for a ballot...

Oh, it will definitely create some unhappy while some happy by selling some land for $$!

That's why it dragged so long for those southwestern Indiana parts where they planned for paving a new I-69 highway... still working on it for more than 15 years or more. (due to those complaint and hill reasons)

There are always people who choice to against, it's not about the money but it's about protect their land, or it's about safely issues as if it crash and it blew up over their properly. There are many reason.

this needs to happen not only in california but everywhere. Europe has transpo in the forms of speed rail trains like... everywhere, way way ahead os us on that curve. And California is in bad shape with their economy but at the same time its actually one of the biggest moneymakers too. This project will get funding somewhere. Guaranteed.

Yeah, the reason why we need high speed rail in California due to congested airports and cant expand anymore so people take the train instead and not worry about flight delays and cancellations, also.

There's always pros and cons for everything and there's nothing we can do about it. Farms always take up land, so where would we build it, get over it and accept it.

Wow! That's awesome! I wish Texas offers that!

High speed railroads will likely be one of the popular transportations as more people spread out.

And it would be so nice to see mountains on a high speed rail!
