California man unwelcome guest , a black bear

I can't believe the guy opened his door and looked outside , the bear could been right there ready to attack him.

he.... has a security cam in his living room? oh my.

I'm glad the guy had pants on; bear and bare all in one video--I dunno.

Also glad that everything turned out OK; no one hurt.

Damn , I was thinking about that too when the guy got up if he is wearing any pants. I don't remember this part in Goldilocks and the Three Bears! Do you ??? LOL!

Awwwww .. he should have thrown some marshmallows at it and made a friend for life.

A good friend of mine lives in Lake Tahoe and he has had two bears inside his house at different times in the past 10 years. The last one raided his frig and left with Mike running behind him to close and lock the door after the bear left. I told him the locked door would not stop a bear and if it want's to get in, it will. He now owns a shotgun!

Well, it pays a big fine to live in California. His place is messy. Is he always a slob? Maybe he left some food leftovers under the couch or on the coffee table. Lol.. It probably explains a black bear sniffed around. Bears can smell food miles away. I once read an animal trivial book that a polar bear can smell it 20 miles away, but I could be wrong. I don't think it was a cub. I suspect a black bear appeared young. Black bears are usually medium.

I have seen black bears and cubs many times, and I can tell the difference. We got plenty up here in upstate New York.

I know for certain, that is cub, not full grown bear. Mother bear may be near, it will only attack if cub screams or mother sees you threatening them then it is over for you.

Maybe it's for when he goes out but he forgot to turn it off? :dunno:

That made sense , it looks like the guy has a habit of leaving his door unlocked so anyone can just walk and help their self including bears too.

yes can smell it miles away only if food is giving off scent long enough for wind to blow it that way

That is why people should bring their bird feeders before May 1, the bears are waking up from their long hibernation and are very hungry and they'll smell the bird food and go looking for it. This way that bear wanted to go into the guy house he must had food in the living room . The news reporters
where warning people to be careful leaving food out b/c of the bears.

There are bear proof garbage can exist. Some are clever designed, other like using electric fence.
