Well you democrats better cooperate with him. Ever wonder why tom daschile lost his job? Cause last time bush wanted oil drilling in alaska was middle of 2001 . Well tom daschile stalled,Fillabuster bushs energy bill. As the result south dakotans voted daschile out. Cause people are sick n tired paying $2 a gallon. So democrats better just give up and just for for anwar cause republicans promise if democrats do this again fillabuster and stall this bill? Republicans will start naming names and spend your tax dollars on massive negitive campaign advertisement you see on TV? Remember bush negitive campaign advertisement against john kerry in his 50 cent a gallon tax hikie? Well it worked and bush won! Well be prepared liberals if your senators stall or fillabuster on ANWAR Expect to lose more seats in november of 06.
Alaskan oil drilling

Another greed oil companies to rip us off. Time for us to drive green cars but Bush keep us hook on oil and put us into poor house. Always blame on democrats, that is why we voted them cuz I hate greedy corprations to control us.

We do need to open up more tracts to oil exploration. It can be done in an ecology friendly manner. The last time we had an initiative like this was in the eighties. The Alsaka pipeline has not been the disaster that doomsayers were predicting. I agree that hydrogen and solar is the direction we are headed. And that is a good thing. And no, the corporations are not trying to opress us. They are trying to supply us with a product that we demand, at a price we can pay, and to make a profit for their shareholders. Want to do away with them? How much energy (gas, oil, electricity) do YOU produce? Or do you only consume? Think about it. Do you even have one solar device in your home? One? Are you doing solar energy research? Hydrogen fuel cells?

By the way, Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, blue collar workers, and retired folks invest in oil stocks and futures. Bush has not enslaved us to oil, this is a rollercoaster we got on when we bought the first cars in the early 1900's. As Pogo once said in his most famous quote: "We have met the enemy, and he is us!"

Doesnt Matter,,,Everytime republican president tries to get ANWAR started a democrat has to stand up and block it. Well gas is $2.00 a gallon now its time to get serous and hold the democrats accountable for what they do. Democrats are still scratching their heads and wonder why they lost? Well if you look at tom dachiles actions and if you follow tom daschiles lead then you deserve to lose your job.Ever hear this old saying? To get along is to go along. So if democrats fight against republicans again theyre telling you WE DONT CARE! And WE DONT CARE ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NETHER. Thats why they lost seats is last years election. So if democrats wanna lose more seats in 06 then go right ahead and block ANWAR cause theyres a republican just waiting to take your seat.

ANWR = Arctic National Wildlife Refuge

Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Steve.

Wikipedia Free Encyclopedia's article on 'Anwar Sadat' ... Anwar Sadat (أنور السادات) (December 25, 1918 – October 6, 1981) was an Egyptian politician and President ...

Anwar was an Egyptian. ANWR is the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge Steve.

After having lived in Germany and paying 35 to 40$ to fill the tank of a compact car, I began to think that the Americans are very ungrateful brats who have their gas so cheap. Every time the prices rise, everyone complains. RME... In Germany right now, it is 8 dollars per gallon. 2 dollars is nothing compared to 8 dollars! Again, it has nothing to do with conservatives or liberals.

Germany imports almost 100% of it's oil. The U.S. imports 55 to 60% of it's oil. We are the third largest oil producing country in the world if you consider the former soviet Union as one country. That in part accounts for lower oil prices here. So it is not like we are 100% dependant on foriegn oil like some nations.

Costs to produce and sell a gallon of gasoline in the US
One barrel of crude oil makes about 19½ gallons of gasoline, 9 gallons of fuel oil, 4 gallons of jet fuel, and 11 gallons of other products, including lubricants, kerosene, asphalt, and petrochemical feedstocks to make plastics. The ultimate cost of a gallon of gas at the service station depends mostly on the price of crude oil, and most of the profit after expenses goes to the owner-producers of the oil, whether they are governments or oil producing companies. The following table shows an approximate breakdown of the costs that go into a gallon of gas in the US. Almost everywhere in the world outside the US, people pay MUCH more for gasoline, largely because of much larger government taxes, which amount to around $3 to $4 per gallon in many European countries. In the categories "Production cost" and "Producer profit" the values show a range from Saudi Arabian production to USA production. Naturally, all the other values may vary some as well; these are general estimates.

Expense Amount
Production cost 15¢ to 60¢
Producer profit 53¢ to 8¢
Refining cost 13¢
Marketing cost 5¢
Transportation cost 15¢
Retailer cost 6¢
Refiner, marketer,
transp. & retailer profit 10¢
US Taxes 19¢
Average state taxes 23¢
TOTAL $1.59

Exactly! I use bicycle to ride or walk for 4 km (3 miles) to get small things. I dont complaint about this but ride the bicycle or walk is good healthy. I only use car if there're big shopping and work.

I would scream with happy if we have gasoline for $3.00 per gallon in Germany.

Can you find out for us how much of your gas cost is taxes please?

This is what I found from 2004:

"Around 70 percent of the price of fuel in Germany is made up of taxes and delivery costs. The tax on fuel amounts to almost 65.5 cents a liter and is not affected by changes in fuel prices. Regardless of the rise in price, the tax will remain set at that rate. On top of that, there is 16 percent value added tax. If the government were to lower the price of fuel, it would stand to lose €13 billion in income."

High gasoline prices per liter (NOT GALLON).

Approx: 0.84 cent oil tax (70 %)
17.9 cent due to the ecological tax
0.31 cent due to the tax increases of the “government tax”
0.36 cent of oil prices (30 %)
Total gasoline price: approx €1.20 ($1.62)

That´s what you want to know?

Gasoline for a GALLON cost us $6.50 in Germany. You can image how expensive when I tank gasoline full in my car.
