British Court Allows Transsexual to be Transferred to Women's Prison

The procedure shouldn't had been approved of in the first place. Period. It's too late to reverse it now.

The problem is now that the governing body messed up on regulating the people, that if the transsexual was to return back to the male penal system, that she would probably be sought out as a prize.

I could care less about the actual person, but I will not let someone else use an sexually altered person as a way to elevate themselves above the rest of the prisoners just because it is a "female."

No, HE is NOT legally a WOMAN at this time. He STILL has a penis -- it hasn't been removed yet by surgery, so therefore he is STILL a man. Please, re-read the article again to where I've highlighted in my post about surgery that he wishes.

You do realize that with hormone therapy, her sex organs are rendered useless?

the law recognizes this person as "she". To your eyes - it's a "he" simply because this person has a penis.

Well, I am followin' what the article says. It says that HE would like to remove his penis by surgery -- that's HIS wishes. Obviously, he is NOT legally a woman yet, so he should go to the male prison since he still has his penis attached between his legs. He was born with it originally. Am I clear ? :)

I understand. It's why I disagree with them sendin' HIM to the female prison. Once, he has a surgery to REMOVE his penis to become a woman legally, then -- that's fine, but at this time right now, it's STILL a "he" so I don't agree that he should go to the female prison without havin' a surgery to remove his penis. That's a :nono:
 
His penis might be rendered "useless"...true....but there are a lot of men in prison and outside of prison whose penis is rendered "useless" without Viagra or some type of surgery.

He still urinates with his penis, not a vagina. And it still hangs between his legs.

But the primary concern here is the sexual function of his penis.

"He" is already a she legally. Identifying as a member of the female gender does not require one to have any part of their body removed.

Yes, he is legally a woman. He does not have to have completed surgery to identify as a member of the female gender. Even in the United States, pre-surgical transexuals can have all of their legal documents...birth certificate, driver's license, SS card, etc. changed to state that they are of the female gender during the transition process.

I've read the article. What you need to do is understand not just the law, but the process of trasitioning from male to female.

So do any number of intersexed individuals who not only have both breasts and a penis, but ovaries and testicles, as well. So what does that make them? How would you guys that are so black and white on the issue classify an individual like that?
 
I think the real issue here is that people don't know what to do with a transsexual because transgender and intersex people completely undermine the gender binary we have set up in our society. This case with this MTF transsexual illustrates perfectly the discomfort people feel when their gender system is uprooted.

Women do not urinate out of their vagina. They urinate out of the urethra.


This is a sticky situation. I am not sure what I think of this yet. I can see both sides in this.

men urinate out of the urethra too... which comes out of penis and it comes out of vagina as well. that's why you need a tissue handy :)
