BRITISH and French nuclear submarines collided

what was your rank when you were honorably discharged? I forgot.
My rate was Chief Petty Officer and my rating was Journalist when I retired with an Honorable Discharge. Only officers have ranks. :)

oooohhhh.... I wasn't aware of different terms - "rate and rank". interesting!

The rate is the pay grade, and the rating is the specialty.

The other services use different designations for their enlisted people but they too, use "rank" for officers only.

Still, thanks for sharing nontheless.

Seems pretty cool to see a picture behind the name and rank!

"Did you ever fire a gun?"
"You ever fired two guns whilst jumping through the air?"
"You ever fired one gun whilst jumping through the air?"
"You ever fired a gun whilst in a high speed pursuit?"

Quotes from an annoying constable questioning an officer in a movie ;)

a former Navy nuclear submariner at work used to tell stories about the cat-and-mouse games his subs did with Soviet subs. Exactly what the Hunt for Red October was about. Ask the ship driver or the tank driver at work about what they did in the service
