BRAGGER BUSTED: Teen Brags On Facebook

DES MOINES, Ia.– Here’s a tip for would be drive-by shooters: if you’re wanted by police, don’t brag about it on Facebook.

Des Moines police say that’s exactly what 18-year-old Hunter Dykstra did.

Police say Dykstra shot up a house on Southwest First Street back in November, hitting a 13-year-old girl. They’ve been looking for him ever since.

They found him this week after he was arrested then released from the Warren County Jail — and bragged about it on Facebook. “Hunter was released from the Warren County Sheriff’s office. We obtained some information that he was bragging on a social network site about being released and not being locked up,” says Des Moines Police spokesman Sgt. Chris Scott, “He’s fortunate that he’s not here on an attempted murder charge instead of an intimidation with a weapon charge. And we’re also fortunate that this young lady that was struck wasn’t more severely hurt.”

The 13-year-old victim suffered only minor injuries. Dykstra, who already has a long arrest record, remains in Polk County Jail on $50,000 bond.
