SAN ANTONIO -- A 3-year-old boy is recovering at home after surviving a two-story fall from his San Antonio apartment building on Friday.

Miguel Martinez fell 15 feet and landed on an outdoor air-conditioning unit in the 2500 block of Goliad in Southside.

The boy's mother, Victoria Martinez, said Miguel somehow managed to open a window in the family's apartment. When he leaned on the screen, both the screen and Miguel fell from the window.

"I went to the room and I didn't see the screen and I heard him crying, so I ran outside and got him," said Martinez. "He had a big cut and was bleeding and standing up and crying and bleeding."

The family drove the boy to Southeast Baptist Hospital and from there he was airlifted to University Hospital.

Miguel received several stitches to a cut on his head and suffered several bruises, but is expected to fully recover from his fall.

"He could have been hurt a lot more because he hit the air conditioner. It could have been a lot worse. We have to thank God he's OK," said Martinez.

Oh boy, that's was close :-o , I'm glad hes OK!

Apartment building balcony are dangerous those days when it comes to children. Wish there would be a way of having some child proof fence and is taller than the child's heights. Too many of those accidents happen to the children.

Glad that the 3 years old is all right and glad nothing was far worst either. ;)

Child can be quick and dispear within 1 or 2 minutes *vanished*... worries me sick and checking every rooms...*ahh sigh* child there (whew)

How do you feel when your child dispearing within 1 or 2 minutes ago..Even your eyes blink and check your child...?

This is so ill. They'd better think about putting Jimmy Locks in their place.

So if I have children, I'll make sure I don't have an upstairs or a swimming pool. Cause upstairs and swimming pool are dangerous. :(

swimming pools would only be dangerous if kids don't even know how to swim.

all landlords should put something like nails to block the screen on windows .. u know what i mean.. it more prevent for upstairs so that way kids won't fall over the windows!
