They should focus his health to find out where it come from instead of ban him from school bus... *shake my head*
A 140kg TEENAGER with chronic health problems in New Zealand has been banned from using a school bus because of his strong odour.
The 13-year-old's family have complained to the Human Rights Commission after being told the student who goes to Kawerau College in the North Island could not board a Kawerau Coaches bus.
The boy is cognitively impaired, has cerebral palsy, experiences faecal incontinence and gets specialist care for morbid obesity that has been attributed to a serious bowel condition.
The Rotorua Daily Post reported that the bus company had sent a letter to the family about its decision not to let him on board, but the family claim they never received it.
The company said it was premature to discuss the matter before a November 29 mediation meeting with several other parties.
They included school and Education Ministry representatives, along with family members and representatives from the Human Rights Commission.
The boy's mother said her son ended up in tears one day when the bus pulled up and his sister was allowed on but the door was closed on him as his peers looked on.
The boy is in line for a stomach stapling operation but his mother hopes to get him exercising to an extent where the operation can be avoided.
