my mom fell and broke her hip today! She seems to be doing alright at the moment but of course I'm sad. I'd like if my fellow AD'ers could send some good and kind healing thoughts for us:aw:
:ty:

I'm praying that your mom's pain will be soothed, and that her hip will heal quickly and completely with no complications. Also, I pray that your heart will be comforted.

Get well wishes sent ur way....spoil ur Mom during this painful time...

Wishes for a speedy recovery to your Mom. And I will pray for her healing.

That can happen when you get old like me. I have not fallen and break my hip, yet. One day I will fall and break my hip. :dunno: I am 65 years old. I hate to think about it in the near future. I hope you have time on your hands to help your Mom to feel comfortable and feeling wanted that you care. Like rockin'robin said "spoil your Mom during this painful time", I do hope you can add someone to help you with tending the care of your Mom. May you walk in beauty.

Where is your mom now at home or at a hospital ? I hope she will recover soon. Will she going to get some rehab when she feel better?

PFH -:giggle: :aw::ty: ALL for your kind thoughts!! I am very glad for them!
Turns out my mom had a pre-surgical consult with the orthopedic surgeon who repaired my broken arm couple years ago. He is an associate of the person they were thinking of to do the surgery and we have asked HIM- who fixed my arm - to do the procedure as we know more of him and he ended up rated as one of the area's best for that specialty. Due to some arthritic changes in the hip socket she'll be having a partial hip replacement, which the surgeon has performed many of. Apparently her injury is very common for people in this age range. Procedure is set for about noon tomorrow. whatdidyousay! Right now she is in the hospital. After the surgery she will probably be in the hospital for some days and then go to rehab on the same grounds.

She apparently thought the injury was nothing and with some help got up after falling and WALKED to her car at the mall and drove home.

Bebonang you also please walk on the good road as I know you do:hug:, perhaps you will never break your hip!
I am honored....

RR, yes, I think we will :aw:

we just got back from same hospital because about 1 this morning hubby thought he was having heart attack! He had been having various nausea, tightness, gas bubbly feeling over the course of a couple of days last week and he went to his doc. and she wanted him to get a very stringent stress test because of his high cholesterol and no family background - adopted.
So this morning at 1 he also had some pain in his arm and so I said we should go in. They did EKG and took heart x-rays and bloods and they think based on that and his descriptions of symptoms he has some gastric thing going on <GERD? or something like that> so he's supposed to take baby asprin and make sure to get the stress test done this-coming week.
So we just got home and I let the dogs out and fed them and called my dad and my aunt back and my mom will be having the procedure around noon-ish as far as I know right now-

hope they're right about the GERD. My husband's cardiologist (whom I've never trusted) said my husband's symptoms were GERD. Doctor was wrong. Luckily my husband was in the hospital when their doctors determined it was indeed his heart.
hope husband and mother get better soon.

(my h key is stuck-dang daughter will not be allowed to use my laptop again - hence the lower case h's - I copied/pasted my h's)

Ouch, it sounds painful to do what your mom did. I've done the same thing except that it was a broken knee. I thought it was nothing at first but when the pain set in, it became apparent that my knee was broken. doing what I did is not recommended. The pain was e x t r e m e.

:wave:LoveBlue and deafskeptic! :ty:LB

I can't imagine the pain of walking on a broken knee:shock:
how is your knee now?

Dogmom , you are sure having a bad couple of days here. I hope your husband comes out well on his stress test.

Oh, that is so bad. Hope your mom is feeling better! I had witnessed the elder fell down and broken her wrist after she came out of the ice cream shop, held the ice cream cone. :(
