Is there such a thing like Bluetooth tty that works with cell phones with bluetooth configured to work with headsets (M1)?

don't know. So far, I know there is hearing aids with bluetooth for compatible with cell phone.

This is something that Compu-TTY/Krown-TTY and ughh... UltraTec should look into...

I think it cost 20 bucks to install. Probably would charge pretty much.

Umm what is a Bluetooth tty? Forgive me if this sounds like a stupid question....

Take my advice .....

TTYs are now obsolete ..........I dont know anyone who uses TTY these days :)

By the way, I like it better when you post erotic stories here! Where is the recent one?

Agreed. I have problems with using my Ameriphone Q90-D with Motorola V710 and my cell phone will not stay in analog after hang up or 10 minutes of inactivity. Besides, why carry 2 devices?

What if you need to make a 911 emergency call if you don't have a TTY machine?

That is neat, Richard!

I, for one still use TTY -- maybe not that often I used to. I don't have video-phone, and don't intend on having one anytime soon.

The only reason I even have a tty and a landline is in case of emergencies.

Thanks all for USEFUL and INTENSIVE information! And no, TTY is NOT yet obsolete -- NOT everyone have video/phone -- for instance a lot of country areas are not yet developed for high speed connections (if they do, sometimes will require 400 dollars deposit and 100 dollars monthly bills) and Internet is not ready for 911 calls (911 calls are "wheeled" to a local emergency services through local machines dialed in by land line phones not Internet where they are dynamically re-routed everywhere.)

I didn't get enough feedback to continue so I figured I would stop.

However, since my son is here for a month of June, I will resume as soon as my son returns home on July 10th.

That is very true--I lived on a farm for a year before I moved down to Texas just this April. It was not wired for high speed at all and I was stuck with lousy dial up with speeds of only 21 kbs.

In this video, I show you a newly developed device that could become a precursor to a bluetooth enabled TTY.

Enjoy!

If I have a Blackberry or similar device that is incredibly compact, there's no way I'm going to carry around a bulky "Writer" like the one you displayed. EW. I bet the Writer costs at least $500 as well, when I could buy a fairly decent new laptop at that price.

Got a question, can you call 911 with BB or similiar devices?

That is true... BUT the manufacturer is phasing TTY out and it will become obsolete and you won't be able to buy "new" within 5 years from now. The production is getting very expensive when it comes to small quanities.

The loss of about 98% of TTY sales in the past 6 years proves that TTY is being phased out the market. Eventually there will be need of repairmen, and that would be "Short term".

I know ONLY one satellite internet provider that would work with VP (No it is NOT DirecWay!). THey now are very expensive, but evenutally might become cheaper.

I have a question. Since if I'm at home and in case of an emergency, could I dial 911 even though I have no landline service? My mom and dad didn't sign up for landline service since my parents replace them with cell phones.

I do not have a sidekick or anything like that so I have no idea.

But a couple of years ago (through my ex roommate's irresponsiblity) the landline phone got shut off - it was our landline under her name - we still had internet and we had an medical emergency and I attempted to call 911 on IPRELAY (because my ex-roomies insisted on iprelay) and it did not work at all..and I hollared at my ex-roommate to go to neighbor to call 911 (she's an idiot). So, from that experience, it is a good idea to keep the landline for emergencies.

But if you have a cell phone then you can call 911...but dunno how they would trace your call if you cannot speak on cell phone.
