Bluetooth enabled TTY?

I have a question. Since if I'm at home and in case of an emergency, could I dial 911 even though I have no landline service? My mom and dad didn't sign up for landline service since my parents replace them with cell phones.

Cell phones can dial 911 because it is configured to work with cell towers which will re-direct to the local emergency services, but not Video Phones. 911 is purely landline based number pre-configured to call local emergency services.

That is right! Each tower has its own identification code and that code pretty much related to location mapping. That is how they can pinpoint where the cell phone is, by using three cell towers and detect the signal strength from each three towers to locate where the cell phone is! Remember, the farther the cell phone from the tower the weaker the signal there is, that is how they calculate the distance. VP, impossible because IP is randomly selected and there is no way that ISP can update the database with 911 operator. Those VoIP have the same problem as VP! FCC wanted these VoIP provider to be able to assist 911 with tracing, but never had any luck! None of these VoIP provider were able to meet the FCC complience deadlines.

Deadlines for 911 compliance? Got url for it? (I want to read that one too..)

Depending on your area, some phone companies are required to leave landline lines open for 911 calls only. I completely cut off my landline phone service and STILL was able to call 911. I did that once when I had emergency, called 911 even when I don't have phone service.

"I completely cut off my landline phone service and STILL was able to call 911."
Completely cut off my landline ... means you completely REMOVED wiring, phone device and etc... What's left?

Hmmm, I'll check with my company (AT&T)....if so, I'll get rid of stupid landline service...save me about $12...

Yup, better check em out. Usually it is waste of money to have landline phone service. Really deafies aren't alone... more and more hearies left Landline phone service because they found out that Cell phone service is alot cheaper nowadays.
This trend is really hurting the phone companies! So long monopoly telephone business!

I doubt it would work with bluetooth on TTY, Blue tooth depends on digital, while TTY depends on analog. But I could be wrong, :dunno:

If I need emergency and I don't have landline phone, I would simply press 911 on my sidekick and wait for cop to show up. Heard it worked for some deafies.

There are ADC (Analog to Digital Converter) and DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) circuits built in tty for all landline phones. When signal are sent out to phone, it degrades into analog waves and converted back into digital when received. So, bluetooth just simply carry out the signal as per se, transmitting what it received from other end. TTY would take care of that signal by itself. Similiar to modem (Modulation/Demodulation) devices to PC.

If that is so true, howcome you asked us if there is one available for TTY? If you already knew the answer you wouldn't bother create this thread in the first place.
