Blizzzzzard!!!!!!!!!

I dislike to drive on bad roads thru bad snow storm, it make me nervous. BUT pretty to watch snow falling.
 
In Florida, we do have cold weather during the months of November to February..and in some areas of FL, we do have snow.....but no blizzards. :) I would love to VISIT seeing snow, but not to live in it because I know that people do get trapped in snow (blizzards).

it would be so fun to ride it to work.
 
Arkansas did experience almost alike blizzard in 1988 but it didnt white out and wind hard like usually in North, NorthEast, etc. But 22 inches of snow that winter of 88.. Whew.. I had alot of fun with my dog.. lol heh..

I love snow.. always have been.. i guess cuz im still a kid at heart? :)

I cant wait for snow.. but doubt it as it is very rare to get snow in ark .. last year it did stick but only for 4 days thats it? other 3 times.. it didnt stick? :( haha.. I am here in wyoming.. my bf said possible we will have snow as it always start snowing in oct.. so wait n see.. I cant wait@!!! :)

Blizzards aren't fun AJ. My first experience with blizzards was in 1993 when I was still living in Chattanooga. I believe it was somewhere around 3 feet. I rememeber I was staying with my dad at the time at a motel, and just going outside was unbearalble. Heavy snowfall pelting my face. Thats what I remember the most. Not something I'm looking forward to see again any time soon.

I remember the blizzard back in '93.. I live in the northern part of Alabama about 20 min. from Tenn stateline. It sucked! We had ice storm in 2001 New Years Day. That wasn't fun at all. I had about 10 people stuck at my 2 bedroom home with no food, drinks, etc. We had a party for NYE and wasn't expecting this at all.. It really sucked. So no.. i'm not really looking forward to winter, well, maybe a little but hopefully no blizzard or ice storms.

ugh.. i hate ice storms, too- rebelgirl.. never liked those.. i remmy i was stuck at my apt .. no electricity.. but have foods and jugs of water to last me for 4 days.. i was preggy at that time.. lol.. the only thing i had to keep me warm was the gas stove.. thank god.. ha.. it was so boring.. all i could was read books in daytime.. then at night time.. go bed early.. i didnt want to light candle and forgot.. then start fire?? forget it.. so was very careful.. ha.. :) finally ice melted... yayay hehe..
 
Early Blizzard Knocks Out Power in West By BECKY BOHRER, Associated Press Writer

BILLINGS, Mont. - Portions of Montana, the Dakotas and Wyoming were hit by a slow-moving snowstorm that knocked out power, closed roads and dumped up to 2 feet by Wednesday night.

Thousands of power outages were reported and some schools were closed by the storm, which began Tuesday. Drifting snow contributed to road closings, and the National Guard was called out in North Dakota to aid the Highway Patrol in rescuing stranded motorists.

By nightfall, hundreds of people in vehicles, including three buses, had been rescued with equipment ranging from snow plows to bulldozers, said Rick Robinson of the state Department of Emergency Services.

There were no reports of injuries.

"It's really treacherous — heavy, deep snow. Visibility is just really poor. It's so heavy that vehicles just can't push through it," North Dakota Highway Patrol Capt. Mark Bethke said.

As much as 11 inches of snow had fallen in southeastern Montana by Wednesday morning. Billings had received 10.8 inches and set a record for snowfall Tuesday with 9.9 inches, National Weather Service meteorologist Tom Humphrey said.

At least 11,000 customers throughout the region lost power for a time as trees fell on power lines, officials said.

The storm, which moved in from the Rockies overnight, dropped up to two feet of snow in parts of western and central North Dakota, and winds up to 50 mph created blizzard conditions in some areas.

"It is, on our records, probably one of the earliest ones, as far as our recorded history goes, in 126, 130 years," said Sam Walker, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Bismarck, N.D.

The storm came just a few days after North Dakota had temperatures in the 90s. Warmer weather was forecast to return in the coming days.

In Utah, the ski industry was looking up. :P

Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort received its first snow of the year Tuesday with 6 inches atop 11,000-foot Hidden Peak. More snow was falling Wednesday.

"There are still projects to be done before winter arrives, but this first snowfall has put smiles on the faces of people all around Snowbird," said Snowbird President Bob Bonar.

back to topic: In canada we get alot of snow, i wish i live in southern of state when winter comes along, but move back to canada in summer cuz i love Canada. Lol. Hmm, yah the blizzards are around quite often in winter time, but winter dont usually start til jan or feb around here. Stupid global warming.
 
someone just told me it snowed in MN.... but it will melt to ground though.

Interstate 70 Closed Across an 80-Mile Stretch of Colorado

DENVER (Oct. 10) - A powerful storm that dropped up to 20 inches of snow in parts of Colorado knocked out power Monday to thousands of people, closed a lengthy stretch of a major highway and triggered rock slides in the foothills.

Up to a foot of snow is expected in Denver, seen here, and as much as four feet elsewhere in Colorado.

The storm was blamed for at least three deaths, while an elderly man who got lost while snowshoeing was found safe after a night outdoors.

Authorities said 150 miles of westbound Interstate 70 was closed from the Kansas line to Denver. The entire highway was closed for the 80 miles between Denver and Limon, where truck stop parking lots were overflowing.

More than 70 people were staying overnight in four Red Cross shelters opened for drivers stranded along I-70, spokesman Robert Thompson said.

The storm cut off power to 80,000 homes and businesses when power lines snapped and transformers failed, according to Xcel Energy.

"You could hear them popping," said Tom Hartman, who was shoveling snow outside the Schlessman Family YMCA in Denver when the transformers began to crackle and die.

Some 12,000 homes and businesses, mostly in the Denver area, were still without electricity late Monday.

Dozens of schools closed or were opening late, including three in the Denver area that closed because of power failures.

Two children were hospitalized with minor injuries after a school bus slid backward down a steep embankment south of Denver, Douglas County schools spokeswoman Carol Kaness said.

A 73-year-old Denver woman was killed Monday after a tree limb snapped off and struck her, and a man and a woman died after their van skidded off Interstate 76 northeast of the city.

The unidentified 74-year-old man who got lost while snowshoeing with his son Sunday was found safe after a night outdoors in the foothills outside Denver.

"He's fine, he's just cold," Clear Creek County sheriff's dispatcher Marty Writer said.

Hundreds of flights were delayed at Denver International Airport as planes lined up to de-ice before takeoff, an airport spokesman said. At one point, the Federal Aviation Administration grounded all Denver-bound flights for 90 minutes.

In southwestern Colorado, rain associated with the storm system was believed to have triggered two rock slides in San Miguel County, including one that shut down a lane of Colorado 145 near Telluride. No injuries were reported. Steady rain also caused two rock slides in Boulder Canyon northwest of Denver, forcing the closure of one lane of Colorado 119 and damaging a car. No one was hurt.

The National Weather Service had predicted up to 4 feet of snow in the southern Colorado mountains, but some of the snow melted and the precipitation turned to rain, leaving an accumulation of about a foot.

Snowfall amounts ranged from 20 inches in Breckenridge to 12 inches in Strasburg, about 20 miles east of Denver. Ski resorts, eager to open for the year, reported up to 24 inches of snow in the mountains west of Denver.

El Paso County Search and Rescue was called to help drivers who got stuck on snowy county roads east of Colorado Springs.

"We've got people out trying out the four-wheel-drive vehicles, and they're finding out they don't work very well," spokesman Steve Sperry said.
