CHICAGO - A teen who pleaded guilty to killing Blair Holt, a popular 16-year-old Julian High School student, and wounding two others on a CTA bus two years ago was sentenced today to 100 years in prison.

Michael Pace, 18, last month decided to plead guilty just before jury selection was to begin for his trial.

Prosecutors said Pace was in search of rival gang member when he opened fire on the bus filled with Julian students on their way home in May 2007.

Blair had pushed a friend down in her seat to get her out of harm's way moments before he was fatally shot in the abdomen.

Another boy, Kevin Jones, 17, was sentenced to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to commit murder in connection to giving Pace the .40-caliber handgun he used in the shooting.

Blair's father, Ronald Holt, is a Chicago police officer who has become a gun-control advocate since his son's violent death. His mother, Annette Nance-Holt, is a Chicago Fire Department captain.

Taking away guns isn't the answer, if you outlaw guns, then only outlaws will have guns.

We need to rearm civilians.

In the old days, kids wore guns to school, hangs them up alongside with their coats and hats. In some days, they shoot a rabbit and take it home to mom so she can fix dinner.

If civilians were armed today, criminals would think twice before pulling out a gun.

Ban guns and the hoods will go on a pillage spree, raping, killing & robbing everyone in sight.
