Blackberry Curve or 8800 media player advice

Sheesh! I have to try that again. I downloaded Extra DVD Ripper and tried that and couldn't get the DVD auto loaded and deleted the software later on.

Basically, I wanted DVD converter that can convert video that make BB Curve or 8800 run slick smooth. I am still using DVD Catalyst 3 which works far better on my BB Curve with a tweak. The only issue is the subtitle font size. It doesn't have font size adjustment. Anyone who have DVD converter/ripper that allow subtitle font size adjustment, let me know what software brand recommended!!!. It doesn't mean I can't read fine print. I read it just perfectly fine. One of the video, Harry Potter, Globlet of Fire have subtitle and it's letter was "hollow" and hard to read. I just want to change it so the font would be readable.

As for Bold, Interesting, I thought Bold have same screen size as BB Curve like 320x240.

As for BB Storm, it's resolution size is different. I have not check it out. I DID played with live Verizon's BB Storm at mall. Touch screen so cool!! Movie Video look wider and bigger!!!! It loads movie FASTER than my Curve!! Coowwll!!! But I ain't getting it cuz I'm on contract with Sprint for 2 years. If Sprint finally have Storm, I would go for it!!

No, not same resolution, Bold has 480x320.

Can I have both of those? :D
Ha ha, i wish that i could give it out. Unfortunately, I don't want him to be violate against my friendship trust. I use my friend's personal name and his lic code. So I aint kind of person who sell their real personal name include lic code without their perimssions. I respect their privacy.

A) yeah wow, thats almost impossible for converter make video clip running smooth motions. because i did tested different programs and put movie clips on blackberry running little bit slow motions. I choose exrta dvd ripper, because picture is very high quality than others. thats my opinion.

B) I can't recommend you any dvd ripper/ video converter. We have different perspective on it. Its most important for you feeling more comfort with DVD Catalyst 3 programs. that's fine.. Thats good explain of DefMATRIXense feels more comfortable with an ultra mobile 3GP video converter program. that shouldn't have any problems. :)

C) Bold has different screen size than BB Curve's 320x240. but 320x240 of video clip can running on BOLD, however 9000's 480x320 won't running on curve. get it?

D) Yeah Bold, 8900, and storms had increased size of screen than blackberry traditionals. I honestly tell you, I did compare bold to curve's screen size. 9000's screen is somewhat big than curve's screen.

E) I thought you are full of aware that can unlocked code on storm for sprint? You can buy versionwireless storm then unlock it on sprint. mmm.. I heard one of rumors that somebody who live in USA ordered GSM Storm from UK. he did unlock on GSM Storm. its WORK. storm loading so fast? ahh interesting! Yeah Bold load faster than curve too. However I am happy with curve has everything and running very well without any crush since 2007. :)

Closed Captions

I don't know if I am out of place here, but I somehow ended up finding this particular forum thread, and after reading a few posts, I figured I might add something that could be of use.

A couple of months ago, someone asked me to see if I could incorporate Closed Caption-support in DVD Catalyst.
This proved to be easier that expected, and thus, DVD Catalyst 3 has support to encode Closed Caption subtitles into the video files.
Unfortunately, I have not figured out a way to detect if there are actually Closed Captions on the DVD title itself, but if the Closed Captions are enabled in DVD Catalyst, they will be included in the video file.

The readable subtitles is a known issue that unfortunately I have not been able to resolve, however, closed-captions are quite readable, even on lower-resolution devices.

To enable them in DVD Catalyst 3, go into the Language-tab in Global Settings. The setting is located at the top.

Closed Caption support is also available in DVD Catalyst Free.

Yup. He did gave me advice to me too.

As for DVD converter for Blackberry. I am currently in touch with DVD Catalyst 3 developer. It was really nice of him adding CC if DVD movie on DVD player do not have Subtitle. So When you run DVD Catalyst 3 with newer version 3.80, You can checkmark Closed Caption and uncheck Subtitle then convert DVD into small file format. It works really nice! it varies on phones and mp3 player with video player. Also he added more devices like Netbooks and many more. Now that you can watch movies using flashdrive to watch movie on netbook!!!!! It is so much better than previous version!

It seem that I use DVD Catalyst 3 often because it was the best and smoothest video it converted for my Blackberry. It works best on BB.

As for tweaking FPS for Blackberry to make video run smooth, I asked Developer to tweak the setting to from 30fps to 24fps for Curve 83xx on the next update. He really appreciate for my input because he is relying on anyone who own phones to give him best input. It's an award winning software (I agree that it's one of the best I've ever use).

If anyone have Bold, Storm ect (or any phones with media players). If your converted movies plays a bit choppy (or wee bit choppy) and you tweaked its setting and if it ran smooth and nice (if you hit a sweet spot) and if all converted movies plays smoothly on your setting, let him know and he will be happy to update the settings so anyone who buys or try DVD Catalyst 3 would be satisfied and happy.

Don't criticize Developer about Subtitle size, and Closed Captioning, he did his best to fix it. Subtitle can't size up through DVD Catalyst 3 setting because DVD movie (disk) already have subtitle font pre-set. You may want to complain with MPAA for stupid mistake they made :giggle:

He said he is working on new DVD Catalyst 4 and will let me know when it come out. I would try it.

I would recommend anyone to try DVD Catalyst 3 and he have DVD Catalyst Free that you can download and use it.. It includes CC.

Here's the link

Scroll down halfway and look at right screen "Free Downloads". If you want to try DVD Catalyst 3, it's a full trial version up to 30 days.
