Is there a real-life Bigfoot in our midst, or a really good cinematographer who is fooling us all?

That is the debate raging online over a YouTube video that claims to show a large, dark and hairy creature running across a path in the woods of Northeast Ohio.

The video was shot in April in the Grand River area of Northeast Ohio, according to a description posted by HowTo101Channel, a YouTube user who described him- or herself as "looking for UFO's, Bigfoot, Paranormal activity, current events a rick roll or two lol."

Beyond that the details are scarce, but that hasn't stopped people from looking at the video nearly 400,000 times in all.

The 38-second clip shows a creature running across the road, from left to right, while appearing to hold a long stick in its hand. The video appears to have been shot by someone on a motorized bike or scooter.

The person who captured the moment makes little sound at the sight but does veer off into the bushes with the camera, then drives off.

Bigfoot and Sasquatch are names given to mysterious, mythical ape-like creatures that some people believe inhabit forests. The theory is largely discounted by scientists but the legend has persisted, even giving rise to its own TV show, "Finding Bigfoot," on Animal Planet.

In May, a group of high school students said they may have came come close to Bigfoot during a class project in the Idaho wilderness. A dark, mysterious creature was caught on tape for a few seconds near Mink Creek before it retreated into the trees, the students said.

"It just didn't look human-like. I don't know what that is, it's not a bear, it's not a moose or anything. It was big and bulky and black," said the student who captured the video. He spoke to ABC affiliate KIFI-TV, but did not want want to be identified on camera.

The last reported Bigfoot sighting in Ohio occurred in April near railroad tracks in Mount Orab, according to local TV station WBNS. The station reported that dozens of Bigfoot sightings have been reported in the last year and are a common occurrence in the state.
