That has me wondering. If young people delay entering the full-time work force for more years, then they won't be contributing tax payers for those years. That means, fewer people contributing to Medicare, Social Security, and Obamacare. So who will provide the funds for all those programs?

They were able to send their daughter to a foreign country for college without medical insurance coverage?

I don't know this Japanese girl's case. I don't know if she had won an award or scholarship to go to US for school.

All I know is this popular special program at my college helps bringing Japanese students from Japan to attend general education and low division classes, which make it more affordable than attending universities. Later, they can go to any university in the future.

I do not think that is the reason. Hubby had a full paid scholarship. It did not say anything about requiring him to carry it. He can go to clinic at his school.

Good point. They'd have to plug yet one more hole in the dike, esp with SS. Experts were projecting more outgo than income for SS would occur in 2016 but I see that this is occuring THIS YEAR!!

Like TXgolfer said that the school offers a great low cost plan. I am not sure about catastrophic injury, but I will have to ask hubby. Since I am married to him, I could not go to school clinic, because I was not a student. Go Figure. Anyway, I am not worried about it now. He has full benefits at his job now. Woot.

This girl suffered head trauma injury. She hit her head very hard. She died right away in ER.

Exactly.....Most people don't realize that the tax credit in the "jobs bill" is simply a 6 month waiver on employer FICA contribution for new hires. So those workers get work credits for those 6 months without paying into the system. Thats what I meant in another thread by burning the candle at both ends.

that's what it's allowing you. if you already have your own private health insurance, you can keep it.
