I was thinking of getting a beagle or beagle mix, but I was told they wouldn't get along with my cats and that they are hard to train.

They are stubborn. But they are good dogs. Hard to say whether they'd get along with cats. I suppose it's like any dog and cat combo. It just depends. if they grow up from puppyhood with a cat in the house, they'd probably get along better.

I don't think they are any harder to train than any other dog (at least my beagle wasn't). They are very food motivated, so treats will go a long way in training. :)

They do need exercise. They are bred to be field dogs. A walk each day works. My dog loved being on a long leash in a large park. Ran all over the place sniffing everything.

Believe it or not, my grand-beagles get along with cat ( 8 months old ) just adopt her few weeks ago. They love to play each other. so so cute !!

Those pictures are all adorable. Loved the progression of Luna at 3 months, when she's giving you that "Ain't I adorable??" look, to Luna at 2 years, when her expression looks more like "Don't mess with ME, dude."

Our beagle-mix was fairly easy to train, although we didn't do anything more than the standard pet-type commands.

My first dog was beagle mix. She was extremely smart dog and loved to chase my cat outside long ago. It was so funny seeing them chasing each other. she knew that I am Deaf and tended to bark at the ringing phone or doorbell. She was passed away on March 1991 due to old age. I miss her terribly.
