Barack gets car stuck at Dublin Embassy

The president's drives? OMG.

I highly doubt the president drives anywhere for official functions.

That question is exactly what brought me into this thread. I thought, "He was driving?"

No, they don't work that way.

Most places that use the barricades don't use spikes, but solid barriers that pop up. (I've seen them at the base gates, and TCS saw one stop a semi, uh, oh.) You're thinking of old drive-in movie theater entrances.

There were pop-up barriers on the Stanford campus. Pretty cool.

The engineers better rethink that one. :giggle:

Also, the Secret Service are supposed to do a dry run of the route ahead of time to look for potential obstacles. I guess they overlooked this one. Embarrassing.

I remember Diana's driver always did this. In fact the made a big deal about the dry run always being done in the same car because of the weight and the fact that they handle differently.

Our campuses are wide open; no fences, walls or gates. The only exception is the downtown campus. They lock the gates at night after the last class because it's in a high crime area (I mean violent crime).
