Baby Boomer nostalgia thread

Is it Dr Scholl's clogs you are wearing?
Clogs, yes. Dr. Scholl's, no. I couldn't afford anything name brand back then. :giggle:

this is an awesome thread! Thank you for sharing your memories with the rest of us who are from different generations. Keep it up...I love it. My mom is a baby boomer.
Does your mom show you pictures of herself in similar hairdos and clothing?

Hard to believe that we thought we were fashionable and cool.

Even in bell-bottom jeans? Hoo boy.

Oh, yes. Hiphuggers were best. And the bottoms had to drag on the ground.

We used to sew a strip of embroidered ribbon around the bottom hems of each jeans' leg. We'd wear the jeans with sandals, boots, or clogs.

If the bell-bottoms were slacks, not jeans, then we would wear them a little shorter so our white go-go boots could show.

Yea, I have a picture of her holding me when I was like 18 months old (man I was a BIG baby since I looked practically bigger than she was...(she was a petite woman at 5'7) She wore this really pretty white angorla sweater with black/yellow plaid pants. Very trendy for 1973. :)

I had Dr. Scholl's sandals, not the clogs though.

I remember getting a chemistry set with all different vials of "stuff", including mercury!! Fun to play with, but now we know it's toxic.

Anyone remember EarthShoes? The ones with the reverse sole, where the toes were higher than the heel? Loved those :giggle:

They are still popular...maybe not as BIG as those times but the idea is still fashionable.

I heard that the 80s styles are coming back..I just bought myself stirrup pants last weekend! That definitely brought back memories of my time. :eek3:

Tried them on, but it was like a something stuck to my shoe feeling.

This is what they looked like back then:

I like them! Very classy! I would buy them now. I like buying clothes that arent common. :)

I wore a long sweater with skintight pants and black boots to work and my boss who is 60 years old said that she used to wear those when she was a teenager. I was like "NO way!!!" Cool beans!

My brother had a pair of Earth Shoes. He had the nerve to wear them daily for a year, then, when they wore out, he went back to the store to demand a new pair. He got them.

Curious....if you dont mind educating the ignorant...but why would it be a dare to wear them daily?

No, that he dared to return them for a new pair after wearing them for a whole year, every day. Not many people would take their old shoes back to the store after wearing them for a year and expect to get a brand new pair for free.

Shel,
When I was 6/7 years old I remember wearing those stirrup leggings, and I think I had a pair in every neon color available at the time.

Oh BTW - I'm glad the 80s are coming back because now I can wear those HUGE Air Jordans with skinny jeans to make my feet look bigger than they really are. However I'm not a fan of those Jeggings.
