Aussie billionaire builds Titanic replica.

I think it's a great idea. I mean its absolutely barking mad for a start, but you've got replicas of The Bounty, The Mary Celeste and other famous ships, why not this one?
I'd love to book a cruise on this with my Wife and for her to say to me "Jack, I want you to draw me like one of your French girls" :)

is he having same amount of life boats...noooooooooooo way i go on it

Actually, the rivet construction of the hull would have limited the amount of damage to just the directly involved panels that were hit. The problem was that the steel hull apparently had impurities in them that made them very susceptible to cracking/shattering like glass instead of the ductile stretching and tearing that we normally see in steel when it reaches a certain temperature. I saw a history episode on some channel that showed what happened to a piece of steel made with the same metallurgy as that used on the Titanic. It was brought down to the temperature of the water at the time, and it was hit with some amount of force, and you could see the steel shattering instead of bending/denting. Somehow, with this understanding, they were able to resolve this flaw.

Cold Water Sank the TITANIC

Classic... Classic, classic, classic! A classic example of technology getting ahead of materials science. We know how to make something and use it, but we don't always fully understand the consequences of using the technology.

If you want to try new technology that would present imminent death for you, don't do it. Let someone else be the guinea pig.

I just hope that having the ship built in China doesn't doom the idiot, and that they won't replicate the ship down to original hull material specifications.
