Atten: Alex, Poor you~

Thanks! Actually, I'm meeting this deaf Peruvian girl (no, she's not a member here) sometime during my stay in Peru. She said she'll introduce me to her friends and show me around. Awesome. :D

I am curious... You will be going to see the Inca Highlights in Peru?

We hope that we are able to the trip there in future! :)

Well, that is part of life as IT professionals. We IT have been though there. Running server and system is major responsiblity. I have known some system administrators have to stay up as long as 48 hours to get system back on. Usually gets decent sleep afterwards.

That is why it is so important to back up, looks like Alex has not done back up for 2 weeks, or that the last two backup isn't successfully.

I did thought of System Administrator, I decided not to pursuit because of hefty responsiblity involved. Supposed I got a job as SA at a company that is a time sensitive, my stress will shot up if I mess with one code and whole company system goes down. I will have long and heat talk with my boss, no thanks!

Absolutely right. I have been a IT professional for more than 15 years.

As an owner of one of the newest Deaf chat sites, I tend to back up all data and database every week and keep my eyes on my dedicated server on almost daily basis. I even have maintained and run several websites as well.

Have fun, Alex! Thanks for all you do to keep our community together.

That's awesome, Frisky. If you haven't tried Peruvian food yet, you should ask one of your co-workers to go dine out at a Peruvian restaurant. :)

Oh? I haven't tried peruvian food. Oh yeah I will do that. I know my co worker would be happy to tell me about peruvian food. I have never thought of trying peruvian until you mentioned it. Thanks.

muchas gracias por toda el trabajosa :)
Translation:
Thanks, for all the hard work

Thanks Alex for your hard work!

Alex -
I thank you for all the hard work you do to keep us needy people happy. Enjoy your trip to Peru.

Alex, thank you for hard work. Everything is ok for AD link and mobile AD link!!! I hope that they won't shut down again during Alex's Peruvian trip. :Ohno:

Hey, no problemo, big guy. Shit happens. Besides What's a few weeks worth of threads when the last 7 years still remains unharmed? Thanks for getting us back online.

Have a great time in Peru!

i always hate when my servers crash on me and i have to stay up getting them fixed.

Honestly, the best server ever is Mac Pro running Windows Server in a virtual machine while running on top of Mac OS X. It works so well and it enables me to take snapshots. If I get a major crash, I just revert to the last snapshot and it works like a charm.

Simply the best.

Yeah, some wondering why System Administrator gets high salary. I noticed that the more responsiblity the more pay they offer. Being SA is hefty responsiblity, so is hefty pay.

You should take me to Peru with you! lol! Keep up the hard work Alex we all appreciate it! :)

Thanks, Frisky Kitty. You're sweet.

DHB: The last backup made was on April 3rd, that's why I can't restore data from that day to yesterday. Sorry, man. At least we didn't lose everything like we once did when AD was fairly new years ago.

As for everyone else, again, I apologize for the inconvenience. At least AD is on a new server and it looks like the site runs a little faster than before. Anyone else notice?

yep :thumb: I noticed I can post pixes faster.. and before I had problems on other site.. ugh I hope the problem is solved.. :P anyway I'm gonna check other site as well ;)
