I'm not Deaf, but if I were, I definitely would be proud of it.

2. Where do you come from?

Russia.

3. What do you wear and what kind? Hearing aids, ci, AB,nucleus etc or none?

None since I'm hearing.

4. What is a country you'd like to visit?

Brazil.

5. would you approach a misbehaving child with punishment or compassion?

Compassion. I think compassion is much more effective than punishment, nine times out of ten.

6. How old were you when your parents first let you watch tv?

Fourteen.

7. What kind of schools did you go to? Boarding, deaf,mainstream etc.

I was mainstreamed in a private day school.

I'm proud to be deaf because it makes me,me and part of my personality! if i wasnt deaf, i wouldnt be who i am today
2. Where do you come from?
I come from England, UK
3. What do you wear and what kind? Hearing aids, ci, AB,nucleus etc or none?
I wear a spirit 3 sp hearing aid in grey and a Nucleus freedom in sparkly silver!!
4. What is a country you'd like to visit?
I would love to visit AMerica and Australia!! It's my total dream!
5. would you approach a misbehaving child with punishment or compassion?
I would approach them with compassion and talk to them and ask them what is wrong because a child who misbehaves clearly is acting out due to something that is wrong!
6. How old were you when your parents first let you watch tv?
Around 5ish? Cartoons!
7. What kind of schools did you go to? Boarding, deaf,mainstream etc.
Deaf school from 3-11 years then a mainstream school with a hearing impaired base from 11-16. I didnt really spend much time in the HI base as i was in mainstream all the time with signed support

1. Are you proud to be deaf and why?

yes, i'm proud to be deaf. some people think that just because i have ci's i'm ashamed of my deafness, but that couldn't be further from the truth. one of the primary reasons i chose to receive ci's was for my own personal safety as a totally deafblind person.

3. What do you wear and what kind? Hearing aids, ci, AB,nucleus etc or none?

i have bilateral ci's (cochlear americas/nucleus) -- although i used to be a hearing aid user since 1985 until the time i received my first ci in 2004.

4. What is a country you'd like to visit?

i'd like to visit several -- spain, france, germany, europe and asia.

5. would you approach a misbehaving child with punishment or compassion?

it depends. if a child has the ability to understand right from wrong, i would use compassion first, but if that wasn't effective, i would punish them. if a child has a mental illness such as juvenile bipolar disorder where they are subject to severe mood swings, punishment doesn't work and only serves to frustrate the child even more, so in that case, i would use other strategies to help control behavior.

6. How old were you when your parents first let you watch tv?

i believe either 4 or 5.

7. What kind of schools did you go to? Boarding, deaf,mainstream etc.

i attended mainstream programs in a public school setting from kindergarten through 12th grade..

Didnt really have a particular favourite subject

I enjoy spending time with children, i work with children

I dont see anything wrong with it, it is their choice

My mobile and my computer

1 week is my limit
Do you enjoy making plans for your birthday or do you prefer to let it pass unnoticed?
I do enjoy making plans for my birthday, for my 18th I went to a pub with my friend whom i dont see much and had a great time!

What were your favorite subjects in school?

english literature, english composition, creative writing, reading,
public speaking, history, earth science, biology, chemistry, spanish, german, french and advanced choir.

How do you feel about children?

i think most children are good. however, i also believe in disciplining them when necessary by removing favorite privileges.

What are your views on homosexuality?

i have absolutely no problem with it.

What is a piece of technology you couldn't do without?

my computer. thanks to my pc, i'm able to surf the internet, read online newspapers, medical journals, recipes and communicate with/support others on various forums like ad.

How long could you go without Internet without suffering from withdrawal?

24 hours only because as a totally deafblind person i've become so used to relying on online newspapers to keep up-to-date on world news.

1. Are you proud to be deaf and why? I consider myself deaf/hoh I am only in the moderate range but I like the Deaf community and what they stand for and am not ashamed to be labeled deaf either.

5. would you approach a misbehaving child with punishment or compassion? Both, my lil cousin needs a firm talking to and maybe some corner time but then he's all about the hugs and i am sorry...he is 2.5 years old and suchh a cutie!
6. How old were you when your parents first let you watch tv? when i was young..my mom said i used to love all the stuff that was going on, on the screen.

8. What are your favourite sounds if you can hear anything? I have to listen veryyyyy carefully (with my ha's) but the sound of my lil cousin (4 months) sleeping and cooing and making lil baby noises! that's the best

What were your favorite subjects in school? My fave subject in school would have to be english and history. I LOVED reading and spelling as I was like 2-3 grades above everyone else. I have always been an avid reader and my vocabulary is extensive because of all the reading I did as a child

How do you feel about children? Love children, I can't wait (well..i can lol) to be a mommy one day

What are your views on homosexuality? Everyone should be free to love whom ever they want

What is a piece of technology you couldn't do without? my blackberry and hearing aids
How long could you go without Internet without suffering from withdrawal? lol..like maybe a day or two, I e-mail ALOT...not as much as one of my friends though she is just ridic with it lol e-mails coming out the wazoo

even though i've never seen them due to my congenital total blindness, i love puppies. the first time i was able to "see" a puppy was when i was 3 or 4 years old.

Yes I am, it has always been a part of me.

California born and raised...

I wear two Oction Sumo hearing aids.

I would love to visit China.

I am an elementary school teacher so I have to say compassion.

I don't remember...I am guessing 4 or so.

I went to regular schools. I was mainstreamed.

I love the going to the symphony and just listening to the music and not have to worry about trying to figure out the words to a song.

The first time I laid eyes on my daughter right after she was born.

Having my entire family around me.
